Well sh*t i wish i could carry a chunk. I have a baseball bat in the back of my seat. Here in Canada, you can't have a pice. That being said, in my bad days i used to have a Austra Special 9mm. that was fun
Jed,
Thanks for the info on the jammed gun. It jammed while feeding a new round following the ejection of a fired round. So, I don't know if your description still applies. I will work on it though.
Frank,
You said "Mike, you need to have the mindset to protect yourself and family. "
Trust me, there's nothing in my mind that would have a problem shooting someone in defense of my family. NONE! But that doesn't mean I'm anxiously awaiting the opportunity to fill someone's body cavity with lead.

What a country.Yeah, those no knock warrants are troubling. Especially given how many times SWAT teams get the wrong address. If my front door busts open Im not waiting to interview the uninvitees before the bullets start zinging. Thats a no-win situation, because you know at that point your front and back yard would be crawling with every LEO in the county within minutes. Nevermind that the SWAT team had the wrong address, the guy inside had the audacity to shoot when guys busted through his front door unannounced.
Ok, youre gonna have to enlighten me on that sentance....are you saying you will shoot first?
Shoot first? You mean as opposed to shooting 2nd? Darn right I'd shoot first - it's not a good time for a game of tag. :) Anyone that comes through my locked door and does not provide instantaneous and clear proof he's a cop, is getting shot...multiple times...from me with a .357 magnum and at the same time by my wife with a Mossberg 20 gauge.
That is why I'm against no knock warrants. More often than not you're going to be pressed for time to shoot the bad guy anyway after he wakes you up by breaking down the door - you absolutely can't afford to waste any additional time trying to determine the intruder's intent. He gets shot first - we'll figure out why he came in later.
And at least in this part of the world (Texas) no jury would convict you for unintentionally shooting a SWAT team member who happened to get the wrong address.
Btw, just put the first 100 rounds through my new EMP 1911 this morning. Gonna like it!

Had something similar. Wife and I went to the shop. Two big black guys were poking around the yard. I told her to draw and keep her gun handy, and call PD. " If shooting starts, just keep firing until both are down and not moving". I went over with gun in hand and asked who they were. They looked, froze and said PD. I had them individually, gently remove and show ID. All was well, but it was tense for several minutes. Turned out they were investigating a rape/robbery that ended on my property where they dropped the victim off.

Yeah, those "no knock" warrants are troubling. Especially given how many times SWAT teams get the wrong address. I wouldn't shoot a burglar in the back, but that said, there are a dozen good reasons for doing so if I'm sitting on the jury. Maybe it was dark and you couldn't see facial features. Maybe you thought the bad guy was about to shoot and you stuck your head behind a wall before shooting. Maybe you were so focused on trigger control and squeezing the trigger that by the time you actually fired, the bad guy had turned around. :cheer:
criminals are like animals sometimes they just need put down. These were two nuisance bears in a neighborhood causing all kinds of problems. guess what problem solved!
There probably wouldn't have been any arrest made if the burglar hadn't gone to the hospital to have a bullet removed from his butt. I guess that's what they mean by adding insult to injury.

You can plan and do what ever ya want, it still dont change the fact that when its your time its your time...just saying..
Yeah but if you're right, then the worst thing that has happened is I've had a great time wasting money on some cool guns. But if you're wrong you're, well, you're dead. I like my plan better. :silly:
My theory about life is to not bet everything on me being right about the things that might kill me. Or: better safe than sorry.

Just making the point that if you believe your destiny and the end of your life is all mapped out, there is no point in taking any precautions in life, right?

Good point, Life seldom takes you where you think your going. Case in point. The Lovely Mrs Ciak and a very sweet, smart, honest towards anyone who is our friends, my daughter and me. We were invited to visit a very well off and respected family in Chamonix France whom my daughter Au Pared a few years back in Sacrofano, Italy. I was looking forward to meeting them personally. Life had other plans. Had to cancel with much disappointment on both sides of the pond. Not to destroy the thread for the calculating provocateurs."Can't carry on the airlines."
