Mac,
Thanks for the reply, though my comments were not specifically aimed at "illegal". That line has become so blurred by false paper, government inaction, and greed on the parts of both employer and consumer, that I think strong action is the only cure. I also think it's important to discern the differences between immigrants that are not of hispanic decent and those that are. People don't swim the Atlantic to escape to America. But our southern border, the masses that have crossed it, the social problems they are bringing, and political firestorm that it has caused are not the result of too many Irish. I think the hispanic problem needs addressed, and until organizations like NRCA start seeking solutions, instead of excuses, and being forceful in Washington, I don't see change on the horizon.>>>
wywoody,
Dad raised me to never judge a man by his mistakes, but rather by the way he corrects his mistakes. Obviously Mac never earned a lot of love around here, as he may have been least PC poster in history, aside from that David guy from Alabama or some other deep south port-o-call.
I for one am willing to accept the fact that people of strong opinions that are not afraid to voice them are EXACTLY the kind of people that advocacy groups need in positions of leadership. While a little bit of smoothness, or silver tongue characteristics never hurt, what we don't need are people that just want a seat for the perceived glory that such a position may allow them to feel, be it real or not, but have no hopes of real effectiveness.
To my knowledge, we've never had participation on this forum by a representative, employee or director of NRCA. I think it can be a good thing. I also suspect that Mac, in the spirit of professionalism and respect to the association, will strive to temper his commentary, particularly in a thread or post that is directly related to the NRCA. I have no misconceptions that he can speak officially on behalf of NRCA, being a director of the organization is not necessarily a position of authority when it comes to official policy. But he can certainly speak of his own opinions, desires and directions that he may personally hold for the organization.
No sense in stirrin' a pot that don't need stirred, unless one desires a complete shutdown of communications. Considering that Mac is in a very real position to affect the direction of the organization and our industry, it would seem foolish to do anything other than grab the opportunity presented to the RCS in his presence and run with it to the best our collective ability.>>>
A hypothetical question of which I thought I knew the answer. Yes, no, ignore, three possibles replies, each revealing something different. I was wrong, there was a fourth possible answer. Sometimes when I see a Latka/Vic Ferrari (in reverse)situation occurring I try to understand why.>>>

Just wundrin, does anything about this thread have to do with somebody recently acquiring a seat on the Board of Grand Poobahs of a national association?>>>
Being blessed with unity consciousness, difficult to maintain but often within range, I have respect for everything. Having to make decisions as much in alignment with that as possible, but on a much less lofty plane, I find that Charles Manson, for instance, needs to be kept in jail, even though that might not offer him the optimal chance for maximizing his potential.>>>

I agree with the perponderence of your thoughts Mike, Mac Roofing has never hired, to the best of my knowledge, illegal immigrants.
My thoughts, on the immigrant labor force are split to be honest. Now assuming we are only talking about the illegal immigrant, although I do not condone their hiring, I do have a respect for them.>>>
No Mike! Sorry, that was more of a quick general reply to all (was heading out with the dog to get some ice coffe).
Will need a little more time to analyze your comments and craft an appropriate repsonse!

Mac,
That's the extent of your reply to my comments?>>>
I, for one, believe that Joining good affiliations is of excellent benefit. And definateley worth the asking price! And like everything else, the more u put into it the more you out.>>>
the NRCA is the best most in debth library on roofing, tested systems, and proper proceedures. Most manufactures list NRCA as a reference for application.>>>

I was a member of WSRCA for one year, didn't see any benefit, so I didn't renew. I'm a member of the local chapter of NAHB. I no longer do much new construction vollume, so I don't get much personal benefit from being a member, but they have been designated public enemy #1 by our Governor, Mean Queen Christine. So I feel I have to keep supporting the good guys in the battle.
The national tile association is a pathetic joke, I regularaly deal with issues caused by the (bordering on criminal) incompetance of the company once ran by the director of the national tile association.>>>
