Well, we always encounter complications. In this case the complications surround multiple uses for the word "hack." If someone's only concern is "how many squares he gets on in a day" I, too, would call him a hack. But then on the other hand, if someone can't hack it, he would do his utmost to downplay the legitimacy of minimum production standards which vary of course from circumstance to circumstance, but, along with accurate craftsmanship, establishes what we recognize when we see a true professional perform the miracles of his trade. Aside from those we have all seen who are just flat-out liars, there are usually two kinds of imposters: the first lacks patience and the second lacks punch. Put the two together, working harmoniously in the same body, and you usually wind up with a professional who can hold his head up with any of the best. jmho&fwiw.
Assuming what you say is true, my question is why?
My definition of hack is any roofer whose only concern is how many squares he gets on in a day. That is not a craftsman.
I nailed on 24 slate today. After carrying them 60 yards and cutting each one to fit. And replaced 30+ bad/corroded bibs that were leaking.
That's why I leave that stuff to you young fellas!
