Good grief guys. Give it up. Who gives a rats behind what someone thinks or says. Most of us have never met the others and if you dont like someone, don't pay any attention to them. Get a thicker skin!

Did you ever notice all the tough guys are behind the wheel of their vehicles doing 70 , right after they cut you off , or flip you off. Seems to fit this post.

That's it . It must be the interpretation of the language you don't understand or you are interpreting it as slang ie British , National Trust is not always a bank. slang for the toilet . Jed " turn off the light cause I don't wanna see," Momma told not me not to come she said that ain't the way to have fun son. Bravado ... blustering, swaggering conduct; the pretense of bravery. Much of the boasting in battle is a type of " bravado." What a tool " i dunno. Thanks for making my point. B) :woohoo:  B) i dunno i dunno

Jed

There is no bravado ciak, and you would do well to remember momma telling you not to use words when you don't know what they mean.

I have always had this theory that indulging in something "considered" detrimental is all fine and dandy until it impinges on the lives of others. Gambling, alcohol, internet porn, tormenting bullies..... if it is only you feeling/enjoying the effects then so what? When the money spent, or the effects from said pastimes cause the breakup of a marraige, or bad health subsequently inflicting distress on friends and family it's time to give it up. Well that's largely what what I felt here. Being "threatened" with legal action (as I am now being) would affect Steve and the RCS more that anyone as it is the medium being used to affect the allegations of slander, or defamation of character or whatever "roofguy" had in mind, and any lawyer is gonna ignore the "but I wanna get him waaaaah" protestations of the client and go where the money is. The likely hood of me being prosecuted is remote to say the least. Much easier to hold this site accountable, and I don't want to be responsible for that so the "ignore" button will now be my weapon of choice. The next time some jackass comes in here braying and maligning everone of us I won't be the one to pick up the mantle. I offer no rebuttal to the insults put forth by the self acclaimed "christian" except to say, Who is jm clark?

I first started participating on internet sites 10-12 years ago with the same site Jim mentioned- that's where I met him.

not too long after I found THIS site-and I have to admidt that I owe THIS site a debt of gratitude-it's where I first learned about mental illness in action on the web,LOL

I remember posting a suggestion-and an individual slammed me-then he sent me a viscious Email-then he posted back here all apologetic-and then he sent me another viscious Email-about a half dozen of them or so, LOL

I think Lanny has about the right attitude on this--why should I care if some stranger on the internet get's his/her panties in a knot?

i would also like to saparticpiation in these forums is often a HUGE freaking waste of my time- while at the same time the things I learn directly and favorably impact my bottom line- I know the things I learned at the other site jim referred to made me an extra 6 figures easy during the time we were active there-in fact something i learned from Jim a few years ago-made me an extra $2400 net- this past week----so there is value here-if you ignore the morons, LOl

Best wishes all,stephen

The RCS forum has had many cycles of activity. I've stopped in so many times over the years that I've long since stopped counting. Back in what is being alluded to as its heyday, people would ask, "Where is everybody?" and it would go on like that for days. Then it would boom again. Every time it lagged, someone different would come to the fore and pick up the pace with a different flavor. We've been asking, "Where did so-and-so go?" since day one. Some people like to post multiple times in a day. Some people post once a year. Unless Vicky closes it down, I'll stop in approximately twice a day no matter who is posting. If there comes a day that nobody posts, I might just initiate a conversation with myself until some lurker can't take it anymore and joins in just to control the noise. I'd come back just to see Woody's dog. Heck, one of these days lanny might even break down and tell me (since I've asked about a dozen times now) whether the Bumpa loader worked out well enough to keep using and whether or not I should revisit my original plan to get one. How come nobody seems to have avatars these days?

---One comment I would make is that sometime back outside topics such as religion, politics, etc were discouraged. Those topics can generate a lot of interest and controversy. If this board is limited to roofing only there is only so much roofing to talk about. The other topics can fill in and keep things hopping. ---Well said, Blue. New people should always be respected. I wish there were an archive where great info. could be saved for reference. ---Abrasive people are best ignored. The old "sticks and stones..." adage applies. There are thousands of various boards. They all have a few irritating posters who are "board bullies." That is just life. Some board moderators ban them. Others have a sort of "group think" that bans them. Some boards allow them. Some people take great offense and leave. Others ignore them. Many stand up to them. I don't think it is possible to please everyone. If I were moderator I doubt I could find an answer to this type of problem. Lanny

adams@door.net Oh gee what a novel concept, someone willing to take responsibility for their comments and not cowardly hide behind the safety of anonymity.

LOL, What a chicken shit!! A novel concept would be saying this shit to a mans face, unless YOU have no nads.

Hi Jim, I hear you.

I've been following this board for several years, and the participation has changed significantly.

Some of the reasons why, I'd venture? Some of the subject matter has been discussed to exhaustion, especially the most common types such as comp shingles imo. Several very helpful and knowledgable posters left some time ago for reasons known and unknown. Some posters are wary of their competition learning something from or about them.

There was a wealth of detailed information of all types that was lost when the RCS changed their website, and not many want to waste their time posting it again, and some posters never returned.

JSC Said: Holy Moly, Roofguy!

Dont know how you and Jed got sideways in the first place, but I dont think it has much to do with any decline in this board in total.

This seems a bit paranoid.

Will you be posting the results of this threatened legal action against him? ;)

I'm a newcomer to this board. I've now been participating for several months. To me, the board seems very slow. There is little participation. The regulars seem to be more interested in skipping over conversations with newbies like me regarding roof issues and they tend to participate more in personal conversations.

All of that is too be expected. I spent ten years or so in a fine homebuilding site so I know all about the politics of the boards. The difference was that there was significantly more active participants so most newbies posts were routinely absorbed and significant discussions occurred.

One thing that is sure to dissuade further participation from newbies is the not so helpful suggestion "this has been discussed in the past...do a search...or scroll down....". On the face, that makes perfect sense if the board is so busy. But, if the board is as slow as this one is, it might be a better idea to actively engage the discussion, even if it is deja vu. Why? Well, the idea of discussion boards is....ta da....DISCUSSING THINGS. We all can go to encyclopedia dot com to read about things....

Of course, what do I know....I'm just a newbie here.
