Got about 2" last night and today. Hard to tell about today as it went sideways and prolly did not end up in rain guage.

We are Blessed here.

We are in South Westerm Michigan and it is supposed to be about 100 tomorrow and maybe a bit of rain late in the day. We sure need it.

An inch the other day, with 80mph winds and 2 tornados.

It has been really nice tearing off huge jobs(for seven men) and not having to worry about rain at night...or until the job is done.

We've done two large tearoffs during this drought that could have been a bit stressful on a normal year. Ruts in the yard??? Not a chance this year so far. We got enough rain to settle the dust for a couple of hours, about 16 days ago. No rain in sight either, maybe Monday.

My crops however, are looking goood! Eating tomatoes already, and the corn is taller than I am.

There is no humidity because it is a drought. Go figure. I am glad we got a litte bit too. Just not enough.

Funny how that 3.5" of rain disappears so fast. So glad we got it and I hear many places are worse off. A farmer client went to Indy last weekend and gave me a brief report. I have not been out of my area at all.

Farmers here irrigated about as soon as they planted and the corn looks great.

Lawns were just getting brown before the last rainfall. This next heat wave will send them back to brown. Not even worth watering the grass. Pretty stupid actually.

The good news of course, is the low humidity. It is a dry heat

Over hell! It is going to be about 100 this Thursday and it is super dry out right now. Too hot and dry for me.

It was pretty spotty here Gerry. But I checked w/ 2 neighbors and one had 3 3/4" and one had 4". So my rain guage was accurate.

Within 10 miles I had 2 people say 1" or so. A little further out one guy told me 2-3", depending on who you asked. And in North Judson, about 15 miles away, about 1".

I have another farmer to interview this morning....

Yes 1/2" or even an 1" isn't near enough with this heat and with how dry it is. But I am told that for the corn crop, the detassling and pollination of the corn, that the timing was perfect will probably save the crop.

Twil, I was wondering how much rain you had. We got 1/2" and it didn't even make a dent. It's shaping uo to be a long, hot and dry summer. And I'm just going to let it. :)

I wondered about that. I had an Aunt in San Deigo and the roofs there were almost flat and they had colored rocks on them. One "roofer" out there just caulked the joints on the plyhwood and laid some colored rock over the panels and got the money and ran. it didn't leak until it rained and he had the money and was gone. People don't check.

It's a out of sight out of mind syndrome. The whole industry suffers here because of it. When it does rain we normally get a gully washer and it prodds people's rmemories that they didn't fix the roof since the last time it rained. We do a lot of doorknocking in the dry times looking for bad or ugly looking roofs. It's a hard row to hoe, but we've been semi successful at it. When it rains we get plenty of calls.

With that little rain, how would they know if they had a leak?

We had a nice dust yesterday, but no sign of rain. We get on average 7-1/2" a year and we are 2-1'2 inches behind schedule. It has rained twice here, about 30 minutes each time. Have to get busy doorknocking.

It's been quite wet here, beautiful really. I am not put out by all the push mowing, doesn't bother me A bit. I actually use it as A rigorous cardio workout. I have A bit over an acre of crass and some pasture. I do it in quarters weekly. I'm over the gym rat thingy so I've found alternatives. Mow, ride A bike and walk the property surrounding my cottage.

We had thunder and a little bit of rain today. maybe .10 inch. Not enough to end the dry spell. Just North of you about 70 miles.
