Mike H Said: I have a question for you.My .380 is jammed with a live round. Its that steel shelled Russian Wolf crap. The slide is about 2/3 forward.
I have tried about everything I can think of with my bare hands, all safety being considered, that I can think of. I am very hesitant to vice it, pry it, etc.
Any suggestions, besides getting stronger hands?
Mike, Wolf (non-corrosive)isn't "crap", most guns work very well with it, my AK's eat it and I just bought another 1280 round case for $300 because it is far and away the best plinkin ammo out there. That said I won't feed it through my ARs because the packing grease jams up the extractor, but AR's are delicate and very tightly machined whereas the tolerance on AK's is far less. Your Colt should do fine with it. If you pulled the slide back slowly for whatever reason as opposed to rapidly you may have gotten the extractor plate hung up and it can neither move up or down. Also the slide release pin was known to "walk" on these guns so check that too. I don't know if there was a bad run on it with cheap/weak internals, but a little bit of research on the serial number will let that cat out of the bag. My Rossi 92 (lever action carbine) came from the factory with exactly this problem and I had a local gunsmith replace the action which you may have to do if that is the case. I know 'cos it's jammed you can't disassemble it but if you have room, apply the safety and you may be able to pry it out or simply "work" the action with the magazine removed so the round releases it self and drops. You are unlikely to be able to apply enough force to the primer to make it go off. Hope this helps
Mike H Said:Old School Said: I certainly am happy tht you are armed. It makes everyone safer for sure.I still remember the day my dad first took me shooting. Over the next 39 years, I have never pointed a firearm at another human being, except for the day I was being fitted for line of sight on my Browning 425 12 ga. It was very odd pointing that gun straight into the fitters eye.
I hope the day never comes when I am forced to do it with a loaded weapon.
The kids of my family are not even allowed to point toys like laser guns at other kids. Gun safety starts when they are bout 3 yrs old.
It's irritating to watch a video of a gun "expert" demonstrating something and then point the "unloaded" gun at himself and others as he moves it around.
Mike control is the trick. My husband was Special OP in Nam. I was once in a situation and by phone call, back in the early 80's communicated by code, he knew I was in trouble. I saw him outside the house scaling the windows assessing the situation with gun in hand. And because of his experience, once assessed, he approached innocently and broke it up calmly. Nothing happened because he recognized, stayed calm and the idiot causing the problem called the cops on himself. It's tough to forget that stuff. My admiration for his training, calmness was greatly appreciated. He was a good man.
Nice guns by the way. PC

Woody, my CHL has made me less road ragey. I used to operate under the assumption that if the doofus in front of me was yakking on his phone after the light turns green, or thinks a yeild sign is a stop sign, he deserved a honk from me. But now I cut them a lot more slack - before if I honked at the wrong guy I risked getting beaten up, but now it might escalate. Don't wanna chance it, so now I just tell him what an idiot he is by mumbling to myself.
Woody these are the good guys carrying it's the crazy guys you have to worry about. these guys & women have an appreciation for the weapon, the idiots don't. PC
Wow, so many of you out there and carrying. That's scary if it follows through in the rest of society. I may have to rethink my hobby of inciting road rage.
Wow! Nice collection, Mike.
Part of my reasoning for trading the 2 guns for the EMP today is that I'm trying to move toward "almost" all 9mm so that I don't have such a collection of different ammo. My gun safe is really small and I'm running out of room for ammo.
I certainly am happy tht you are armed. It makes everyone safer for sure.
I have these, but so far, I've not been willing to apply for a CC permit. Maybe one day if I feel I need to carry on a regular basis, but I do know how to use them. There is always one at the ready. I just snapped the pic of the Taurus 357 mag I keep at the office while holding it in front of this screen.
I love the SW .45 It's definitely my favorite.
I forget exactly what this is, I'd have to look at home.
9mm FS (pic is not mine, mine has extended 6" vented barrel)
Browning .22
Pic is self explanatory
Colt .380
Taurus .357

Pulled the trigger this morning, so to speak. I've been wanting one of these 1911s. Swapped a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag, a Glock .40 and a little cash for it. Suhweet!

I personally am not paroniod, I've been told I should be. I don't carry a gun, but I have one, would not hesitate to use if I had the need. Sorry for the person that invades my space. PC
[quote] Call me paranoid.
You know what they say, even paranoid people some have people who're out to get them. :cheer:
Car wash owners get robbed frequently. At mine most of the revenue is credit cards and it goes right to the bank, but the bad guy doesn't know that so I know I'm a target. The stories I've read indicate that the bad guy often forces the owner to open the change machines then forces him under the desk while he cleans them out. Thus, in addition to the Glock hidden inside the waistband on my hip, I have a S&W Sigma 9mm on a magnetic fast holster up under the desk top. Overkill is preferable to lacking options, imo.
In addition to that, I'm a big Second Amendment proponent and just want to do my part to preserve our right to keep and bear arms.
