What was rare product is now not so rare and that is largely due to Kold King selling the equipment and basic know how. The problem I have seen is so many folks grab that gem and hold it so tight afraid someone is going to steal there process or tricks of the trade. What is the worse that could happen? You will have to give true competitive pricing, the order taking mentality is abolished and the real work has to start. I like meeting all the coaters and giving them advice, I like competing against other companies and I love the fact that our spray man was the man who was out there sweating and training for over 20 years in the industry. If it wasnt for the training from him and all the years working with Lucky I wouldnt have the small (more than most) knowledge of this process. I know a great many of you are looking at my Videos on YouTube and maybe your stealing ideas, maybe your learning something, maybe your claiming them as your ideas. Before you Reroof Rethink Restore is my slogan. Either way I dont care, rather than shun the new kid, give him a hand up and rebuild what was once the greatest answer to failing roofs in the world.

Come on now shane we both know who your statements are directed at. Those tricks you speak of are years and years of trial and error, and every roofer has them. With that said we train anyone who needs help (even westcoat yearly)that doesn't mean you spend your days giving all that info out to just anyone. Having a lot of experience is good having a little is dangerous. (no price can makeup for knowledge)now the spray man you speak of (jack) the owner of westcoat also my cousin,is a great applicator one of the best. Also a great friend to me. The tricks we have we've had them 50 years because dad always hired loyal people and they respected him, based on your past comments I guess that stands for nothing no respect of the countless days of trial and error to come up with the system, now we should just give it all away for??? As for your slogan I wasn't aware anyone was steeling it. And the Small amount of training you have had came from me and jack not dad (LUCKY). So you should RE-EVALUATE RE-THINK AND RE-WRITE YOUR STATEMENT.

Our company can do many systems - we're certified in 'US Intec, Bitec (if they'red still around) and Stevens TPO. We don't do any of those systems anymore, just chopped glass and emulsion. Why? Because in the harsh environment of West Texas where we can get softball sized hail, 95 mph winds, 114 degree summers and -1 degree winters, I haven't found ANY retrofit roof system that can last 27+ years. I have been on thousands of roofs around here and have NEVER been on another retrofit/recover that lasted anywhere near that long. They usually last 5-7 yers around here, tops. Why would I do any other system when I can quote the customer a better price, give him a roof that lasts longger, and make more money for myself on a roof that won't leak?

In fact, many of the emulsion roofs I personally installed 27 years ago, have lasted longer that hot bitumen or mod bit roofs that were torn off to the deck and reroofed new. They last an obscenely long time. I looked at some in California that were over 40 years old, possibly on roof's Kade's dad was involved in with Larry Widmer.

All that said, one of the chopped glass system's disadvantages is that it looks easier than it is to install. Some rookie with no training buys a used rig and starts spraying down what looks like plenty of emulsion, without knowing or caring that half of the thickness will be gone when it dries. One such contractor was one of the best Kold Kingers in West Texas. He bought his 2nd rig and made the mistake of letting his crew forman train the new guys rather than letting us train them (we'd have done it for free, btw). Next thing I hear is they're having trouble with their roofs. I looked at one of them over R-panel metal and it looked like they put down less than 3 gallons per SQR!!! They quit doing the system because they had trouble with it??? Huh? When you should put down 10-15 gallons/SQR and you put down 3, it's the system's fault?

Thats a sharp 4x4, Kade. Looks like you have a lot of work in it. I'm looking for another Jeep CJ but all of them have been abused so may have to go with a TJ. I used to be really into offroading, can't count the times I've been stuck. Flipped my CJ5 at the lake in Kansas many moons ago, but that's a whole nother story. lol

Yeah Robert is an exceptional Kold Kinger. Anytime we get someone in his region looking for an emulsion roof, we send them to Robert.

At first we getting our emulsion from a supplier out of Houston who was selling us watered down emulsion so we experienced problems with those roofs from lack of clay, but we ended up buying a truck load of henrys emulsion from ABC out of Beaumont and realized we were being screwed royaly by our supplier.Well ive stuck with henry and have never had a problem with our emulsion since. We have a lot of squares down and im in the wettest climate in North America and currently doing a 975 square spray job on a shopping center if it would warm up and dry out.
