Things are changing rapidly, hope you enjoyed the recession, it's downhill for awhile. High gas price 2 recession will be worse than the high gas prices 1 recession.

I wont't slam you. I feel the same way about exploiting our own resources...and if we did do this...The U.S. will still have to play the role of "World Police", not to protect oil but to deter rogue nations in controling civil nations. The U.N have never been as effective in plying this role as the U.S has!

I'm putting myself out there, slam all you want. WE the USA have the resources. WE have the oil & gas resources. WE don't want to disturb OUR environment. WE are being stupid. WE are bitchin'. When will WE smarten up.

I am all for the environment and preservation BUT WE have to be realistic. I understand the concern because ages ago our wood & coal extractions were rude. I think we have learned and hopefully can do better. PC

America (its leaders) have a lot of influence (on an international level) in what we pay at the pump. Some may say it is sobsidized.

Here are some clear points...

-Our demand for gas is high (per capita compared to many smaller developed nations), which has a reverse effect as it keeps our gas prices lower than that of other nations.

-Since we are a BIG user, the U.S. need to protect our interest in gas reserves oversees...at the same time....we are protecting many nations by doing this.

-I don't see any Brits, Newzies, Ausi's, French, Japanese investing in that protection from radical nations as we are.

If we recieve any subsidies, its probably from the oil producers...because we buy so much and we are doing a job that that nation are not capable of doing.

You're math is incomplete Vaa. Try this: Approx. $1 trillion spent for military, diplomacy, state dep't, world policde etc.

50% (guess!) for oil madness = $500 bil

Add $500 bil in and divide it into the cost of a gallon of gas.

Every year our economy has to dig out of a $500 bil hole before we even start paying for any normal functions

PC, yesterday, right after watching Glenn Beck and his prediction of soon-to-be $5 gas, I decided to go for gas, including 4 5 gallon cans, at the cheapest place around here, Costco. They have about 10 lanes and all had at least 6 cars in line. Usually it's pretty slow about mid-afternoon. As I was waiting, I noticed that I was about the youngest person in line. All these retirees must have just watched Glenn and decided they better go for gas afterwards, I felt like such a sheep. But I was a contented sheep, paying $3.17 while driving home past other stations with prices in the $3.30's.

Woody the whole thing SUCKS. I'm in central PA I saw gas price at 3.19. Food is going up, gas is going higher because of the outrage in the Middle East. Clothing going up due to cotton being beseached with weather. Our cost of living is rising incredibly but our support systems think we are fine. RIGHT. I see another revolution on the line. I'm right out of the 60's and I know all about it. It's on the horizen. PC
