I've been doing carpenter work of a sort, the past couple of days. If you can call it that, I'm replacing some Hardi soffit. What nasty crap to work with. When you pull the old stuff it delaminates into tiny pieces. And the smell you get when cutting it makes me long for the aroma of cedar.
Nice work OS. I quit doing stuff like that when I dropped the crews. Still have all my equipment though an take on smaller projects sometimes. :)
Thanks guys. Boy, we fought with them trying to get everything to fit together. I will have more pictures of it tommorrow.
When I looked at the building this morning, it was cold as heck, but there are literally hundreds of those rafters and someone had to cut everyone of them. It would cost a fortune to build a building like that today, heck. it is costing a fortune to redo the roof now. Glad to have the work though.
Looks purdy OS. A subtitle could be "how to make a 4x12 have the strength of a 3x8." But it probably still has a healthy margin of overkill. It doesn't look like there was much strength left in those old rafters. It looks like they were all different sizes, too. That oughtta keep you from getting too bored.
O/S, YOU are some talented critter. Better than a woodchuck, and it looks like you,re teaching the kid right. I liked wood shop in high school ,but thats "This Old House" quality.

Hey Steve, Can you tell me why the pictures ended up going from back to front? No clue here.
