---I went into my supplier today for some material and looked at the delivery board. They had 5 deliveries posted for the week. I am sure some more will roll in but that is very slow. The manager said in a slow July they do 5/day. Now they are doing 1 or 2. He said in a busy July they barely keep up with 10-20/day. ---I am wondering how long they can stay in business with their kind of overhead. Trucks, insurance, employees, shop costs, etc. are hard to downsize. Lanny
Wish we could get the checks all at once....Insurance and mortgage companies hold the checks so long...and a couple are DOT jobs so they go slow too. doing about 3-5 a week but keeping a pipeline.
Fairly busy in west Texas as well. Could be busier but its ok. close to 30 residential im workin on and about 6 commercial.
We are in Michigan and we are busy. I am going to put on two more guys next week.
We are still doing ok down here although with the loss of rig jobs due to the spill and the announced closing of the Avondale shipyard LA will take a hit especially with the loss of state revenue. It has been suggested that this is deliberate due to the fact that Jindal refuses to kow-tow to the current administaration. A kind of "you f/k with me and I'll f/k with you deal". Given the arrogance narcissim, and partisan mandate of obama, it would'nt surprise me at all
I notice it too, Lanny. I'm amazed at the size of the fleet of the supplier I use the most. I never knew they had so many trucks in the past because so many of them were out delivering. Now they just set there.
I have a nephew that was just laid off from his job as a manager at Pacific Supply in Idaho, where the economy usually holds up better than elsewhere.
