The following fire took place about 12 miles from me. It was a large apartment building not condos. I don't know the name of the roofing company but will find out. Here is the news article...

Story Updated: Jul 2, 2009 at 4:30 PM PDT By KOMO Staff RENTON, Wash. -- The massive blaze that gutted a new condo building under construction on Tuesday night was accidentally sparked by a roofing crew, investigators said.

Flames torched Harrington Square in the Renton Highlands and sent sounds of booming explosions thundering throughout the neighborhood.

The new development in the 900 block of Harrington Avenue Northeast was nearly 50 percent complete when fast-moving flames burned it down to a pile of rubble.

Some $11 million went up in flames, fire officials said. Without drywall in place, the building's wood frame had burned like a bonfire.

No one was injured in the fire. The police officer was hit by a pickup truck while directing traffic around the fire. That officer sustained minor injuries and is recovering at home. The pickup driver was cited for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

---I needed some torchdown work a few weeks ago on a very fire risky section of a house. I went with peel & stick called Liberty because I thought the fire danger was too high. Nice stuff and I think it turned out quite nice. It was only 2 rolls. I am sorry for the company on the Renton job...imagine the nightmare... Lanny

---I have no blame for the insurance company. It is careless roofers who have multiplied claims that get the rest of us paying the costs for higher premiums. Lanny>>>

Lanny That is a tragedy . Can you or try to imagine the economic impact without insurance. :woohoo: It was not the insurance company who started the blaze . The insurance company's are our friends. Don't forget to pay the premiums.>>>
