 Just kiddin' ya. Like anything else if you sell it for YOUR price you'll do alright. Problem I got is building the volume.... a machine is expensive or you can rent one.

Long term, I don't think the market will hold. Too many people have gone into it and there is a finite # of buildings needing done.

MY OPINION ONLY

tico Said: the first and second pics show the truss bracing/webbing as 1x4s and nailed to the sides of the rafters/top chords. the othre 2 are gusseted with gangnails. which leads me to believe theirs 2 sections to the house. did you blow the insulation in as a result of some error?or just an addition to your roof contract?

Upsell

Is there any money in insulation?

Nah.....most of what I have seen is chopped up newspaper

I'll take that as a no.

thats good on the upsell.as a roofer first, that had 4 good learning years under his belt by 15,that also did construction for Lancaster const. in miami,I too branched out to residential const. it's nice to be able to serve others, have the knowledge, and the hands on experience that when you do upsell,it's you your pushing.not someone else for that proverbial kicback. as to insulation,if you've got the blown in eqpt.it is.in fl. you could sell it through the FPL insulation program. My ex G/F G/F at the time,I'd started selling solar, and green upgrades, had the original 1956 insulation.you know the stuff, rats nest.I had her call FPL for an energy audit.it cost 50.00 at the end of the audit they gave her A voucher for blown in insulation to meet the florida standard which is,as you Twill did the 16".she paid nothing above the 50.00. she handed them the voucher, they did the job, they turn it in for their pay.they were gone in the time it took her to make luch, eat it and make ready to return to work.

The wood damage has nothing to do w/ it. Did not mean to trick anyone w/it. The top two are ours, w/ the baffles and the pathway. The bottom 2 is a job that I looked at where an Insulator blew in the attic.

I thought the pics show that the insulators can be just just like the roofers replacing shingles. No clue about what is going on around them, or the system they are dealing with. Just cover it up. Anyway.....

(We did add 3 more inches to ours after the pics were taken. #2 thought we were putting in 12" total, I had meant to to add up to 12" to get 15" total BTW)

I'm going with A: insulators C and D: roofers. B: unsure... are you pointing to the "S" loop in the duct?... probably the roofers.

Is the wood damage related to the baffles being covered with insulation?

September 20, 2010 at 5:43 p.m.

If you look near the top of the trusses, there is plywood attached. On the other side of that plywood is the roofer's work.

Down below the bottom of the picture is white stuff. That is the insulator's work.

I feel so helpful now.
