Will you be alone when I arrive? Asking a potential client if he or she will be alone when a contractor arrives may make the homeowner think the contractor has criminal intent. Also inappropriate are these companion questions: Are you married? Do you live alone? Are you widowe Perhaps this is a better way Will anyone else be involved with decisions about the project and payment? I want to be sure not to waste your time, so it would be best if everyone is available at the same time. What's your credit score? Asking about a potential client's credit score can easily cause offense, as can questions like: Do you have a job? Have you ever filed for bankruptcy? How much money is in your bank account? Perhaps this is a better way How would you like to handle payment? If necessary, a contractor can check your credit history through normal channels. Asking to see other bics Asking about other bids is sort of like asking if you can cheat off your neighbor during a fourth-grade spelling test. It should make the potential customer wonder if the contractor is offering the best bid he or she can. I hope you'll give me a chance to talk this over after you review all of your bids. I think it's a fair bid; it reflects the cost of the job as well as the value of my qualifications and training. Angie Hicks B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
I'm reading this, thinking; What kind of moron would ask such questions....Then it all came together at the end.
AL could be better but like any review site, more upset people are going to post than happy customers. I've got a couple of good reviews, and a C and a D from people who didn't use me.
One of them: "It took a while to get the quote in, but he did quote it. I would ask him to quote another job in the future, but I would expect him to be late." !!!! I told him it would take that long because we had just had a HUGE storm.
This is based on a phone interview! Thanks for fishing out such a good review guys! Also I'm unsure how I feel about them deleting reviews after three years. It screwed me out of a GREAT review this time, but I'll be glad when the one I posted above is gone.
Angie Hicks is kind of full of chit If you ask me. AL--a good idea, that is almost impossible to pull off in reality.
Altho I pay to ad on her website, to even think for a nanosecond that AL has "educated" consumers on board is a big waste of that nanosecond.
After 20 + yrs. of dealing with the public they are definitely not getting smarter. Just more confused. And greedy.
Thanks AL! (and others)
