I would appreciate any info on the average cost(price per square) to INSTALL wood shingles.(labor only)Your help is much appreciated. I need an accuracte cost for labor only, to install wood shigles.
Around here, they do it for 2- 6 packs of beer a day, one at lunch and one after work.
Wood shakes and shingles are almost extinct around here now. Especially wood shingles. But back in the 70's to early 90's, the roofers did them for $10.00 sq. (maybe $20 for wood shingles) up to 6/12. We installed several thousand squares a year back then.
Now, there's hardly anyone still active in the labor force who have ever even installed any wood. I have no idea what it would have to pay nowadays, since most anyone you hired to do it would be in a learning mode probably averaging 2-4 sq per day at most.
usually about 50$ per bundle
Ask carribeandreams, he knows everything
At least!
---By wood shingles I take it to mean 16-18 inch shingles at 5 inch exposure. We stopped doing wood shingles about 20 years ago because of the labor intensive application. I have worked 8 hours on a wood shingle job 8/12 and cut up and I got 2 sq. on hand nailing. ---I wouldn't touch them for under $100 a sq. and on any kind of difficulty I would need $200+ a sq. Lanny
