I have about 40 hours in it including drafting the templates for the cones and remaking the center hub. The first one did not come out perfect so I re did it with a few slight design changes.

Thanks Ddub, I put on the copper post caps because my inspiration wall,(The entrance to the Portland Japanese Garden) has copper caps on the framing timbers. I tried for as authentic as I could, while still being my cheapskate self. I used 2 types of boneyard slate and S tile, for my round medalions I used the bottoms of Guinness bottles.

Schuwing! That's something to be proud of CM. How many hours do you have in that project?

Woody: Nice wall!! But whats the purpose of the copper post top hanging out there?

I know what you mean about repurposing copper things CM. I used a toilet float on a finial on my shop roof and used a post cap from a lumber yard bargain bin on my Japanese wall.

Well woody yes it did but I did not make it. I don't have a metal spinning lathe. I could of made it without one but they wanted it to be highly polished so we bought it already made. I let you in on a secrete. it's a commercial float ball. I was the only one we could find that was made out of 20 oz. copper and did not have a hole in it. The arrow spins with almost no effort at all. I added 2 1/2 pounds of lead in the arrow head to balance it out and there is a thrust bearing on top of the stainless steel support rod.

You needed that last picture to show the size of it. You wouldn't want to be standing where you are if the wind suddenly changed direction.

Did that sphere atart out as a flat piece of copper?

Few more pics. It's almost ready. The arrow is not soldered yet thats why it looks a little bowed.

Got the hub finished today Cone base it spins on I put the arrow through just fooling around. the arrow is 3 ft. out each side. It's harder to make then I thought it would be but it's coming together. Should be ready to install on monday
