How about the worst employee you ever hired?

NOVA had a military show on one showing how the airforce tested plane before actually flying them. They were held over a stationary place by a 50' tether on the nose so the wind wouldn't blow them backwards. On a treadmill, which btw, wouldn't rotate, the tether would need to be att he tail. Otherwise, the airflow from the props would allow them to take off without even moving a foot forward.

then they had a faulty test. Under propulsion power, it is impossible for the treadmill to match the speed of the wheels. The planes propulsion system exerts its force against the body of air surrounding the plane, not the treadmill.

Carried to the "Nth" degree, the treadmill would experience a massive and infinite accelleration to immesurable warp speed as it attempted to match the wheel speed, but alas, as long as the plane's wheel bearings hold out, it can't slow down the plane.
