A home owner asked me today "If the roof is going to be inspected by the building department, why should I just go with the lowest price? " My first thought was that most inspectors around here are incompetent and their approval doesn't mean anything.>>>

On an Inspector Forum I log into once in a while, their biggest pet peeve seems to be kick-out flashings.

Also, how much CYA language they must insist on putting in, just to be on the SAFEST Side, just in case they open themselves up for some liability l>>>

the inspectors around here just found out what baffles are. they bug me to put them in everywhere. half the houses i do have no use for them anyways. the closest i came to seeing an inspector on the roof is i had one on my walk pick 16' in the air sho>>>

Got a fax yesterday from someone who was selling their home. It was the report from the home inspection with what he found to be wrong.

We were at this house 4 months ago and made all necessary repairs. The homeowner did tell me that he did not get on>>>

Around here I tell them inspectors no longer climb up on the roof. They walk around the house with binoculars. Makes me wonder what the heck I'm paying for when I buy a permit. (that's a rhetorical question)>>>
