The initiative would allow outside private insurance companies to offer workman's comp rates instead of the state monopoly that exists today. The idea was that competition might lower rates.

It's not a surprising result. I saw 0 advertising in favor and all info against it painted it as a giveaway to big insurance. It's a wonder the measure got 42%.

I would think it would drop rates,we were only able to buy from the state fund a few years back and it was a rip off.When more companys started selling the rates dropped in 05 i was paying 65% now i pay 32% and it may be going down.
