voter conundrum

---Interesting voter conundrum... ---In the Washington state election cycle 3 tax initiatives went down in flames. .........state income tax on the rich lost by 2 to 1 margin .........Tim Eyman's 2/3 requirement to raise taxes passed 2 to 1 .........the recent "snack tax" was repealed by 2 to 1. ---However, the democratic majority in the house and senate who GAVE US many of these taxes were re-elected!

---My thoughts...a judgment on the Democrats because now their hands are tied (and I mean tied) AND they have to reduce the up coming budget by 5 billion $. They will have to cut their own programs...and they cannot raise taxes to make up the shortfall. Much of their work for the last 4 years is heading for the ash pile. I can see it is better for the Demos to have to face their own folly than electing Repubs. Lanny

In New Jersey, we finally have a governor who stands up to the overpaid public employees and their unions, and tells them ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Many of our previous legislators are spending their time in the can. It is refreshing to get a guy who acts like Reagan did, when he told the traffic controllers to take a hike. I can t believe a previous governor, who in his opening address claimed that all public construction would be performed by union contractors. This has to be unconstitutional., cause it is patently prejudicial. Our main problem in this state is the unfunded pension liabilities, which must be addressed and renegotiated. Fat chance. What they should do is terminate defined pension plans, and substitute profit sharing plans, i.e. when surpluses are available, provide a formula to distribute them equitablly, noting that the taxpayer is a very important party.

wywoody Said: In Washington state, its not the government we deserve, its the government three counties in the state want and the other 39 reject. Unfortunately lots of people live in those three counties.

Which is why we, as Americans, must NEVER allow the Electoral College to be disposed of for a popular vote in the Presidential election.

Ultimately we get the government that we deserve. It is hard to have leaders if you must put 'em on a leash and not allow them to lead.

But when they lead you down the tubes, then ya gotta put 'em on leash
