Tree Trimming

So . . . I assume if a tree limb is in our way or doing damage to a roof we can trim it. The question is, after we are done with our work and/or repair, is preventative trimming of trees adjacent to our roofs landscaping or roofing?

I ask because here in Florida, a separate license is required to be a landscaper.>>>

If you use a tree pruning saw, it's landscaping if you use a circular saw with a blade so dull it smokes, that's roofing ;)>>>

I would say no, because that is not the primary reason for work and it is just trimming away for safety.

Actually, by trimming away the hazard, you are being compliant with safety and health standards necessitated by OSHA.

Most towns I work in require a roof permit, but only if you either are doing a complete tear-off, which we always do, or if you are doing more than 25% of the roof.

Are you trimming more than 25% of the tree?
