Honestly, how many of you people are now in the spf and polyurea business mainly because of making the acquaintaince of the great persona of Tom Hay and his unrelenting defense and education of a controversial business he believed in, despite mountains of ignorance and prejudice he addressed during his ongoing efforts to date?

I'm going to post this same question on at least one other forum, since this audience is somewhat limited.

I'm sucking up even worse than Bobby here, but I think TH may be the most influential and positive force on some of these boards, and certainly this one.

Disclaimer: 1: No, I don't do spf or polyurea at the moment. 2: Tom's check for my endorsement came back NSF so I ain't doing it for the $1MM promised.

Doesn't add up? Adds up perfectly to me. What's the issue, TomB?

May 12, 2010 at 11:29 a.m.

TomB

Not me....I've toyed with the idea for the past 20 years....

At one point, a few years ago, I almost justified it, due to the fact we could provide building insulation as well....Too many in the market though....

There seems to be new/re-kindled interest due to latest green/sustainable energy craze though....

Still doesn't add up to the fair-minded....JMHO

Tiger or pussycat, both have claws.

I stay away from tigers. I'll always toy with a pussycat though, they're just too much fun.

Well I guess if you think it's funny that you took a thread that started off complimentary to Tom Hay and derailed it, that says a lot about you.

One of these days you're gonna poke the tiger in his arse one too many times and he's gonna bite your head off. Course if that nasty avatar is any clue, it will be spat right back out.

Your ignorance of the fact that many of us here are thirty year plus veterans of the roofing industry should indicate the preeminence of the company you are mixing with.

I know Tom Hay is one of the preiminant (hope I spelled that close) pioneers in SPF.

I had no idea you had 30 years roofing experience. Perhaps if you'd act like it rather than being a jerk at every opportunity, you'd get the credibility you think you have coming.

Congrats, you've hijacked yet another thread in your 6th grade-level inability to resist being a tool.

Clearly this applies to many more of us here than you realise  (why am I not surprised)

I realize you're always trawling for trouble. I'm a little surprised you'd use Tom Hay's thread for it though. Maybe this isn't the best thread for that...

SPF has grown up in recent years. I went head-to-head with the PUF guys for many years back in the 80's and 90's. I guess when you spend a couple of decades making your living in the zero-sum game that is the highly-aggressive roofing business in West Texas, you kinda get used to exploiting every weakness you can find.

I'm not proud that Tom and I had our battles that got personal, and I'm not going to defend my reasons for them. He had his reasons, I had mine. It happened. I will say that at that time on the RCS of old, our company was just coming down from a very heady growth period, and SPF was just entering one. All the conditions were ripe for locking horns.

I know Tom Hay is one of the preiminant (hope I spelled that close) pioneers in SPF. You can tell that by listening to his stories. Anyone who can tell you a 30 year old roofing story, who is still involved in the roofing industry, has pulled off quite a feat.
