Just wondering how much time off you guys take. In the last few years I have really upped my vacation time. I take a lot of long weekends and at least 2 full weeks. I have taken about 3 weeks so far this year. Makes it more of a challenge as I spend a lot of time getting things lined up before I leave and more time catching up when I get back, but I think it is worth it. I have gotten to the point where I can leave for a few days and pretty much forget about work. I still deal with some phone calls and occasional problems but ot much. How much vacation time do you take?
Bull (remember him?) once referred to me as "Captain Vacation".
I'm cool with that.
B)
I am scheduled to have my left knee replaced in the middle of October, and then have the right one done about 8 to 10 weeks later. I think that means I will have about 3 to 4 months off from work here this winter. I am sure I will be ready to get out come spring. Not the kind of "vacation" one likes to take, but on the other hand, if I can walk then, it will be worth it.
Winter or early Spring is the only time I'm able to take off. I've been wanting to return up to Alberta (not a place to go in February)for 30 years, but haven't found time in the Summer all these years.
My weekend usually starts after two repair estimates Saturday morning.
Up till a few years ago I had the job on the brain even when the time had come to decompress, be it at home or on vacation. I have found the balance. Diversifying my skills. I am on a paid vacation while working. It is a state of mind. True I travel all over the lower USA on a working adventure. I have learned to make time and enjoy, with the Lovely Mrs Ciak at my side. Roofing in my hometown. It is filled with adventure. The pressure of getting work struggling to eeek out a living is not nearly as great as it was when my sole source was roofing.
B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
I've been spending a lot of weekends here at the Williams Ranch.....my 2.8 acres of personal paradise. Seems like I come home on Friday and don't leave home again until Monday morning. And I like that B)
Used to be, years ago during the busy season, my weekend would not even start until Sunday afternoon
So, it's getting a lot better. Took a week and went to FL last winter. The usual downtime in the winter? I haven't had it the last 2. Looking forward to it this year
Vacation, what is that?
