In just over two weeks, I will be going over to Europe for the first time. My son offered to pay half and the airfare it will cost me less than $300, so I couldn't pass it up. My son lives in Brussels and works in Dueseldorf, so that's where I will be based. We will have a quick trip to Venice and Croatia. And another trip to Paris. Anybody have any suggestions on must-see things?
I've even been practicing any French phrases I might need. So far, I have "Hey Pee-air, yer dog shitze' on le rue. When he responds do I call him mag-gut or mag-o? It's all so confusing.>>>
I must have taken 30 rolls of film with me. I bundled them together on the way home with a rubber band. Going through customs they x-rayed my bag that had the film. All but the rolls in the center were ruined! I did end up with photos of a military parade that was in honor of Richard Nixon, who was there at the same time.
I lost some incredible photos of the resort town Neptune on the Black Sea along with a ton of photos from Transylvania. I was able to get some copies from other people who were on the trip but it is not the same.

Terry, you rebel!
When he said the Ugly american at the start of this thread, I thought he was talking about me!>>>
Spent a month in Romania in 1974. It was awesome! Back then it was still behind the Iron Curtain and there were a lot of regulations we had to comply with. Mostly it was what we could and could not take photos of but of course being a know-it-all teen, I took photos of everything, especially of what was on the no-no list. Wonder if I can still get in trouble for having them?>>>
My BIL from Europe goes thru that same DVD thing woody when he comes here. He wants to buy a bunch of American movies but he has to be sure they will work there also.>>>
Twill, Brugge (pronounced brooj) is definitely on my list of places to go. There's a little chocolate place there that my wife went to when she went over there a year ago. The architecture of the place is so quaint and precious that you have an overload of cute just looking at it. I've been ordered to bring back truffles from that place.
OS, ya, I hear they have those things over there, but they're still different from ours, as our President recently found out when he gave the British PM a collection of dvd's that don't work on the dvd players over there.>>>
I spent almost 2 months in Europe in 1974-75. I would imagine it has changed a bit since then! I heard they have computers and electric over there too.>>>
Bruges? Like the movie "In Bruges"?
Looked like a really neat place if the movie was accurate>>>
Have a great time woody, and if you haven't already, do try the warm beer......>>>
Your certainly welcome to come along, Misc. As it is, I will be spending nine days with four kids under 7, so I'll be looking for some sanity.>>>
A guy I worked with went to Yerrup. He mostly drank beer and looked at roofs.
Wish I was going with you.>>>
