This is the house I grew up in in Dodge City, KS. My mom and stepdad still live there. See the article below the photo - it explains that Judge Preston lived there and how he had a squabble with Bat Masterson. I'm surprised the house still looks very much the same as it did back in the 1860's.
The local historical society says that Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp had been in our house many times.

I used to sneak out my 2nd floor bedroom window and across that roof many times to go out partying with my buddies. Let me tell you, it is a lot easier scaling that roof when leaving, sober, than returning after 10 beers.
Woody, everyone who grew up in Dodge knows that it still has a meanness left over from the old west days. It is an unusually rough/ornery town. It wasn't until I left Dodge for a year and a half to attend grade school in Wichita, KS and Denver that I learned that fighting wasn't a normal part of growing up. I probably had 15-20 fights going through school and that was the norm.
My stepdad was a LT and chief on the DCPD for 32-1/2 years.
weren't they afraid to go in there? it looks scary !!
When flying, I always download the free samples of kindle books to read while on the plane. One I read over the weekend was an old west book. Dodge City was the baddest, wildest place in the country for about 20 years. Lawmen were chosen by their willingness to shoot people, but they didn't last long.
That's pretty neat!
Ever have any ghostly experiences there?

If my genetics weren't seriously defective, would I have chosen to be a roofer?
