Still lovin the pain

I keep getting these learning seminar flyers in the mail. Has anyone been to one? Are they just going to try and sell me some books when I get there? I have a feeling, just trying not to waste a day. If I can learn something I will go, TIME IS LIFE.

I go to free ones and to ones that you pay for. Always get something out of them. I have paid as much as $2500 to attend a seminar. There are a couple that I have dvds of the seminar that I watch over and over because they keep drilling home how to get where I want to go.

sage advice as usual lefty ,I have thought similar to the others remarks in the past, but happened to go to one in boston a while back, while I Didn't gain much technichal knowledge ,Getting to see others talk about similar subjects that I knew about, and could teach a course on,albeit from a different perspective than mine, was worth the trip to me. I think wehave to remember that we,knowledgeable, contractors speak a,different lingo than Joe Homeowner, and some of these, college kids were closer in lingo to Joe HOmeowner perspective, than I have been in years ,and it gave me some fresh ideas onhow to close that gap,,,,Just gotta remember,,we can be the most knowledgeable guys on the planet on a subject, but no one listens when yotalk on a different level than what they can follow ,they wanna give that job to someone just like themselve

That's kind of funny Chuck. I overhead a metal shingle rep telling some people at the supply house how they could charge $350-400 a sq to install their product.

WOW!

That made it REAL OBVIOUS how manufacturer are a MAJOR part of the problem in this industry.

The young man pushing the product has probably installed 0 squares of anything in his whole life

I almost went to a few over the years but never made it. I was at the supply house this morning and they had a brochure taped to the counter about an upcoming one. I read it over briefly and the thought entered my mind about going to it for just a couple seconds but then I thought, "I could probably teach this thing for them" and got distracted by something else. ;)
