I keep getting these learning seminar flyers in the mail. Has anyone been to one? Are they just going to try and sell me some books when I get there? I have a feeling, just trying not to waste a day. If I can learn something I will go, TIME IS LIFE.
Lefty Said: I would check them out to see if it is something I could use.sage advice as usual lefty ,I have thought similar to the others remarks in the past, but happened to go to one in boston a while back, while I Didn't gain much technichal knowledge ,Getting to see others talk about similar subjects that I knew about, and could teach a course on,albeit from a different perspective than mine, was worth the trip to me. I think wehave to remember that we,knowledgeable, contractors speak a,different lingo than Joe Homeowner, and some of these, college kids were closer in lingo to Joe HOmeowner perspective, than I have been in years ,and it gave me some fresh ideas onhow to close that gap,,,,Just gotta remember,,we can be the most knowledgeable guys on the planet on a subject, but no one listens when yotalk on a different level than what they can follow ,they wanna give that job to someone just like themselveI go to free ones and to ones that you pay for. Always get something out of them. I have paid as much as $2500 to attend a seminar. There are a couple that I have dvds of the seminar that I watch over and over because they keep drilling home how to get where I want to go.

That's kind of funny Chuck. I overhead a metal shingle rep telling some people at the supply house how they could charge $350-400 a sq to install their product.
WOW!
That made it REAL OBVIOUS how manufacturer are a MAJOR part of the problem in this industry.
The young man pushing the product has probably installed 0 squares of anything in his whole life
I almost went to a few over the years but never made it. I was at the supply house this morning and they had a brochure taped to the counter about an upcoming one. I read it over briefly and the thought entered my mind about going to it for just a couple seconds but then I thought, "I could probably teach this thing for them" and got distracted by something else. ;)
Went to one Fred Pryor seminar. A complete joke and total waste of time/ money
