In Kalamazoo, Michigan yesterday we got 12 inches of snow at our house and this morning the temperature is about zero. It is supposed to be a sunny day today, but the high is supposed to be in the teens. Two years ago here, it was a record 85 degrees on the 15th of March. We still have about 2 feet of snow on the ground today.
I was talking to one of the guys at coffee yesterday who lives on a lake. There is 20 inches of ice on the lake, and it will get thicker with this weather, because most of the snow on the lake has melted over the last few warmer days and there is nothing to insulate the ice from the cold.
On the positive side, the severe cold has killed a lot of the invasive species that have been bothering us for the last few decades...Ash borers that have killed millions of ash trees and stink bugs from Australia.(they look like lady bugs) You need a few extreme years to balance out the warm ones.
I know that they year we had the record warm temperatures, the fruit trees started to bud and then it froze and killed the entire crop of apples etc. for the year. On the other hand, the trees rested that year and the next year we had a record crop. Patience is the key. Hey. I am "Old School" and I have seen 61 of these springs to date, so I can tell you that EVERYTHING is a circle and the old will come back. Don't get too used to the current way of things, whether is be weather or prices or materials. It will change! I wonder when polyester leisure suits, bell bottom pants with large cuffs and higher heels for men's shoes are coming back? Carry on!
:)

We have had over 10 feet of snow this year, and it is finally about done. On the other hand, I said that about a week ago too. When it melted and compacted we had about 3 feet all over and no where to push it. I talked to a guy that spent the winter in the upper peninsula and they had about 300+ inches in the Houghton Hancock area. That is almost 30 feet! They get lake effect from all directions up there. It is still snowing too.
Haha. Good one.
I've been playing golf and might start my garden if it doesn't rain on Friday.
I went out this morning and it turned out to be one of those Duane Bobbit snowstorms! You know, 4 inches on the ground!
Snowing here right now 7:40 pm
40 here right now. Only 1/2" snow predicted for tonite. Not looking forward to much
April 14 and it is starting in the 60's with rain today. Windy and getting colder as the day goes on with 2 to 5 inches of snow tonight! Lows in the low 20's It was 71 yesterday! WTF!!!
It's freekin' ridiculous. Just flew in Cleveland to 3" new inches, and a blizzard. The captain got a solid round of applause in a very hairy landing done almost entirely by instrumentation. By the time we could see out the window, we were at tree top level and the plane was pitching every which direction.... those sudden drops followed by a loud engine roar and a push-back in the seat are always fun, right?

if this link works, the pics show the windbreaks the guys had to do to get just 65 sq. down in a full day, when just 2 days earlier the same guys got 203 sq. in a day.
I AM OFFICIALLY SICK OF WINTER
Snow on the ground in spots. Flowers pushing through.
Sun is to high in the sky to use the heat in the truck in the afternoon.
Had to meet an adjuster this morning to look at a roof. It was snowing and there was at least an inch of new snow on the roofs. Too slippery to get on the roof, plus there is still a lot of snow on the roofs. Supposedly it is going to be 50 tomorrow and in the 60's on Monday. that should do it as far as any snow on the ground goes, and we will only have to deal with the plow piles next to the driveways. It goes back down to just a bit below normal next week, but that is about 40 for a high. I am sick of the winter. It will probably be a very wet spring so we will be dodging raindrops trying to work. The frost laws are on around here too, so deliveries will be tough. I hear that the frost is down about 9 feet in the roadways, and that takes some time to work its way out. The roads are all beat to hell too. rougher than a corn cob. What a winter.
Practiced w/ the pitching wedge today....and drove a few balls in to the woods. Damn that felt good!
With all the snow still on the ground, it cools the air so that it can't get really warm until we get a real high pressure system from the south. It was in the single digits last night and the high today is supposed to be about 28. I can't wait for spring.
First day of spring came and went. 70 degrees here today and 73 tomorrow. :)
The worst thing you are going to find is....tons of frozen/ thawing Dog Poop.
We've done 2 jobs now. Plus the dog at my house ='s Poop Everywhere! It's flying off the shelves!
The stuff just did not decompose over the winter
And the worst thing...........it's all up by the house. The job we did this past week had lots of room for the dog to go. But where'd he go? All up and around the house and deck.
yUK pHooeY :(
The weathermen are calling for the first 60 degree temperature here today since the middle of last November.
Still snow in the shadows of the houses and 2' piles where the snow was plowed off out lot but after today we should be about clear.
Next week back to below average temps for the whole week and maybe some snow Monday night. This winter does not want to let go.
