I'm building a rig to help my son start his own roofing company. With Kold King, and our Dallas roofing company, and starting the new roofing company, and hail season in full swing...I have my hands full. I have decided to sell my solar-powered ponding pumps company. Actually, all you're buying is the rights to the design, help getting set up to build them and where to buy the components, website with ability to purchase from website, and advice on how it all works. There is very little inventory involved. Also included is very rudimentary protection of the design - it's not patented, but I have protected the design in a way that I'll discuss with a serious potential buyer.

The pumps sell for $500, and materials/components to build them cost around $150. Once you've assembled a few, you can build one in about 1-1/2 hours.

The potential is huge - we just sold some to the Dept of Military & Veterans’ Affairs. ABC Supply seems a natural fit for distribution, I just don't have time to mess with it.

Price is $10,000 cash and $15 per pump that you sell i the future. Website is: www.pondingpump.com

On average the pumps will last about 100 months, depending on the area of the country (less in Florida, more in Arizona). The pump cartridge/motor can be replaced in about 10 minutes at a cost of around $18. We have around 100 of them out there. They can be mass produced very easily, or built onsie twosie in a garage with very basic tools. We had a large electrical engineering firm in Lubbock Texas help us size everything, recommend the optimal charge controller, relay, etc. After working on our unit, the electrical engineer's exact words were: "You have a goldmine here."

We think the solar pumps have huge potential, and that's why we're not willing to give up a $15 per pump royalty. Actually, we think they can be sold for $695 but we kind of settled on $500 per unit as a reasonable next price-point after the initial introductory price of $395. I was told by a very large and reputable roofing industry insider that we were way too cheap at $395.

As with the Aesop's Fable where the monkey went hungry because he couldn't remove his fist from the jar of nuts because he wasn't willing to let go of 1 or 2, we need to hand this off to someone who has the time to develop it in order to see it have its full growth potential.

P.S. We will expect the buyer to enter into an agreement that we will be compensated based on a formula of the selling price in the event that he decides to sell the concept at a later date.
