Seems like every coating mfg has jumped on the silicone bandwagon. In just 2 years we became the largest volume silicone installer in the region. We are slowing down on silicones tho, just too many downsides. Up to 6,000 psi to spray, that's injection injury territory. It's a pain in the butt to work with, at least the moisture-cured stuff. And once you put it on, nothing sticks to it but more silicone - a distinct disadvantage here in the hail belt.
Go slowly if you're thinking about silicone.
clvr83 Said: Yep Phantom3 AdvancedWrecked it while showing it off to some sheet metal guys working on the building. I hadnt flown in a few months and it was pretty windy. It lifted up and started to go with the wind, I compensated the wrong direction in to a sign. Only broke two propellers, luckily not the camera again.
The sheet metal guys were cool, but they are union and we arent. Im sure they went back to work talking like that rat kid and his rat money breakin expensive toys and so on...
I fly a Phantom 3 Professional.
Thinking seriously about the new FLIR imager for drones, although probably need an FAA waiver to fly it at night.
Thanks, it's a 19 year old EPDM roof.
Your not supposed to run the drone over groups of people or within 5(?) miles of an airport. Neighbors pretty much have to put up with knowing their privacy could be in the process of being invaded. I live on 38 acres out of town, so I hate it, but I love having one.

Drone?
I'd be interested to hear what other downsides it has other than you can only stick silicone to it. I'm not interested in spraying it. It goes down so fast with a squeegee and rollers or a super spreader that I just don't think I'd ever land a job big enough to justify buying a spraying rig. Except primer, we spray that.
We landed a 100sq coating for a local municipality calling for a 20 year warranty w/ s2000. Went reeealll nice.

May be the different stuff in the air here, or the dirt, but around here roofs last less than 50% as long in ponding areas. Emulsion being the exception to that, it holds up to ponding better than most roofing materials.
Vaa Fakaosifolau Said: Yeah they are trying to push it here too. You mentioned all the disadvantages that are making me give it a wide berth. I take it that it came from the SPF industry as a top coat and as a substitute for polyurea?
Yes, and it is impervious to UV or ponded water. No exclusions for ponding water.
We have used several truckloads of Gaco - they have a spec using S-2100 silicone over SPF that is actually Severe Hail Rated by FM. But, at 3 gal/sq @ $36, it's pricey.
