What's the typical minimum slope? I am looking at a Mansard w/ shingles on it. It has 2 different slopes: 65 degrees and and about 80 degrees. Neither vertical.

Maybe I should re-shingle it and be done with it. I don't know

I like the look of asphalt on a mansurd, maybe it's because I'm young and overzealous about roofing. Maybe it's because I've never installed any lifelong roofing products on a mansurd, or many places. Not many people buying any upgrades these days.

Here's one we did last week. Yep, the guy on the right is putting adhesive under each shingle.

Yeah. I think I'd rather install a 3 tab than a laminate.

It has Horizons on there now and they look really sharp.

What strip shingles are left out there besides a 3 tab?

We would always try to ver the consumer into a metal panel type, but depending on their budget most would end up with a fiberglass shingle, we have replaced many shingle mansards with steel panel & concrete tiles but kept away from wood shakes or shingles ,on 7/12 and over special nailing patterns were required and we did see many a mansard that was shingled with fiberglass or asphalt shingles start to slip we also experienced concret tile roofs slipping usually on a 5/12 and above pitch the method of underlayment was 30/90 hot mopped, someone used a low melt dead level asphalt instead of steep IV for addhedision and when the sun started to heat up the asphalt started to soften and the concrete tiles started to slip, a huge expense for the roofing contractor who then filed for bankruptcy protection he was sabotaged lol he says hundreds of homes in a certain subdivison in sunny florida had a tile roof slipping problem, we now have to nail the first 3 courses and then stagger the nailing pattern thru out the roof covering har har

There's a various siding options, including steel, aluminum, vinyl, wood, cement (Hardi-board and Hardi-Plank), pressed boards (Can-Excel). Often many property owners in the country-side or in commercial settings use various profiles of ribbed steel roofing or steel siding to cover the walls of their barns, garages, and workshops. In some instances, we’ve even used corrugated steel panels on new residential applications, to give an ultra-modern look to the home. As with steel roofing, your choices are many in steel siding profiles, less so in terms of aluminum, vinyl, cement, or wood exterior wall coverings. Some products work well horizontally like traditional siding, but often, steel and aluminum siding – like standing seam panels – are installed vertically for curb appeal. With several thousand siding, soffit, fascia, and window jobs under our belt, Roofmaster can offer you some quality options for your structure.

I think siding is better for the mansards than shingles. But I dont know the codes for siding.
