We have recently completed a complete tear off of our clay tile roof and have most of the tiles intact.

I am looking for advice on where and how I might sell the tiles so they can be reused. I believe most are original tiles from the house which was built in the late twenties.

Thank you in advance.

where are you located? there are some companies that specialize in salvage roof tiles. You need to take a photo of the field tile, count how many trim (hip and ridge) tiles you have. Those are usually really valuable. don't forget about posting an ad here on the RoofersCoffeeShop.com classified section. My friends above forget where they are!

you should post wachu got. pix too. some people want salvaged over new.

isn't it amazing how we can salvage hundred year old products yet we still work in such a temporary environment? people always call good things "expensive" these days. thanx walmart!lol some people even attempt to life cycle cost but they always leave out one key factor... inflation, that is the creation of money. in roofing (in the past anyway cause we're currently in the process of creating hyperinflation) it was usually around 300% in 20 yrs. changes the math a bit! take the origional price of that roof you stripped and divide it by a hundred years and i'll bet it cost less than a hundred dollars a year to have that beautiful roof. bet it didnt have grace or plywood under it either. no osi and even no mortar if you were able to salvage it. doesn't it make us feel a little foolish sometimes witnessing such things? made me change my ways

btw 5 asphalt roofs in that same time frame including properly calculated inflation, well you do the math! still cheaper? oh and that's without talking about what imitation, compromise products do to the real market and skill level of the workers and prevailing mentality and oil dependancy and acres and acres of landfill space, etc.

don't worry yall i'll be back to work and off the computer tomorrow!lol

Where are you located? Frieght starts eating up the cost of the tile very quickly. Look for someplace within 200 miles from you. I monitor Craigslist for salvaged tiles in the 2 markets within 200 miles of me. Unless you're willing to stock and store it, it's unlikely you can get a premium price. I think you need to offer them at least 50% or less of the new tile price.

What kind of clay tile. Ludowici? What color. You should go to slateRoofCentral and post there. There are a few comjpanies that specialize in that kind of stuff, or you can advertize on Craigs list and such. I have seen all of them work and all of them fail. How do you have it stacked? Is it palletized? Lots of "ifs" there.
