Looking at buying a couple of new saws. I don't need and 7". 5-1/2" makita or 6" PC Saw Boss are standard.....but I have not had the PC for a few years.
I'd like to save some money, but.....the blades. They are more expensive, IF you can find them.
Even Porter Cable does not list them on their website. It's really strange. Now I know why I have not bought one in a long time.....
The rechargables would be handy for me doing all these little repairs.
I get tired of messing around with the extension cord. Hunting down the power outlets etc..
But then again what few rechargables I use now have dead batteries in them half the time.
Add in the problems you mentioned above and your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.
Funny Willie. Funny how that happens too
And another thing.......had a Makita battery drill (18v) fall apart. 2 yrs old....went to get a replacement kit.......new batteries are slightly different than the old ones. I noticed Panasonic did the same thing with their battery tools (15.6 V) . Suddenly you have to buy completely new kits/ set ups
The thing is, I don't think these batteries are much better than 10 yrs. ago, yet, they keep re-designing them. New and UN-Improved!
I wonder why?...........
Anyway, the only battery tools worth having are the drills and a metal saw. Rest are junk.
( A 1/2" battery hammer drill ?????? ) Correct me if I am wrong .....
I need to buy a new jig saw myself now that you mention it.
All my life until the last couple years I worked with a lot of other guys and tools were often misused, stolen and abused.
That got me in the habit of buying the cheaper ones as it never made sense to me to spend a lot of money only to have the above occur soon afterwards and have to replace them anyways.
I don't have this problem anymore and I find my stuff lasting. In fact, I even find it "right where I left it" the last time.
I think it's safe now to upgrade to better quality tools.
What a strange feeling!
No, but now that I think about it......I'd end up w/ 5- 1/2" blades in a 6" saw. No advantage there
You going on a killing rampage?
Like the Texas chainsaw guy! :cheer:
