Can you use siding on a roof with a normal pitch, instead of roofing materials?

Come on guys! OF coarse you can use siding on a roof!!!!! All you have to do is install ice and water shield on the whole roof first. Then you don't have to worry about anything. No need for head lap, flashing's or skill

Wood siding? Vinyl siding? The reason it would not work is that it would be extremely dificult to flash. Shingles have head lap and that is what keeps them from leaking. Siding doesn't as it relies on the vertical locks to shed the water. Even wood shakes have the head lap.

Like GKRFG says, You could but it wouldn't work.
