We have used the samurai in the past I would buy the 18 inch and the 24 in blades and we love them on asbestos and slate repairs. Rippers are old school..........

Any "tarmite" will do the job for you. What are you paying?

I have two of those. Just used them (tried to use them) recently on a wood-shingle tie-in. For slate, tinner's got it down. On this job, we had the best luck with flat hacksaw blades mounted on an offset adapter. (Sawsall.) Least amount of trauma on the shingles we were trying to keep. The Samurai has been renamed, but it's a lot of work to use them. Not nearly as nifty as they look imo.

Robert, I recenlty had to work on an asbestos roof. I bought Milwaukee 12"-14" blades. As for any 'far-under' nails, I just broke out the damaged slate as much as necessary for reach. If you're working on slate, get a ripper.
