So you custom tile contractors or guys that work on historical buildings may have seen this kind of stuff before but most of us have never seen these kind of products. I think we all need to add a little whimsy to our roof, don't you?
Take a look at this German website I found http://www.colordach.info/roof/Roof-Ornaments---13.html OMGosh, they take PayPal if I only could figure out how much on is.
I found an earlier article on RoofCresting. I had never heard that term before so I typed it in Google. Boy, some beautiful ornamentation came up. Try it. Have you guys ever heard of RoofCresting before or am I really showing my lack of roofing knowledge.
I think that just once in our life we should install something fun. I think I will look for a flying pig to put on my house.
Courtesy of Mr. Shingleweaver I updated the photo of the month to show a real ornate roof. Click on the RCS Social/Social Media link.
Thanks, it was a fun project!
Old School you are my hero. I was weak in the knees just looking at those photos.
It should be done tomorrow and I will take the pics of the finished project. Just three different views of the same thing today and none of it was the copper we all want to look at.
Here is a project we started on today. It will have two matching copper finials on either end and a copper scroll work conecting them in the middle. We have to install copper lightning rods in the finials and ground it on the other side of the building. I will straighten out the ridges and do whatever other repairs need to be done while the lift is there. It will take a few days and I will post the pics as I go.
My Brother makes those! Classic Gutters in Michigan.
They have butterflys too as well as a Cardinal or bluejay for the birds. Cute!
OMGOSH!!!!! That's the cleverest thing I ever saw. I am going to totally turn into a consumer here and tell you that I would hire them just to get that Fricken bird on my roof. Nice commercial too. I'm somehow jealous of their great idea and proud to know them at the same time.
Jesse & Lefty have been using them for a long time, on every job.
Curious that you should post this today. I delivered to lift to a house this morning and we are going to install a copper cresting on a high dormer early next week. I will take some pictures of the process and post them for all to see as we are doing it. We also have to install lightning protection in this one along with two fineals on either end. Should be another fun one.
Incredibly integrated product. Notice how the top course tile has the weatherblocking cast in it. They actually would be much easier to install than the whale-on-a-stick weather vanes I'll occasionaly install.
Other than the tender care of getting it up there in one piece, they'd be like installing any other ridge.
