Removing uncured flashing tape from epdm & metal edge

Need to replace metal edge. It is stripped out with uncured flashing tape recently done. Any suggestions so that I don't tear up the epdm Thanks

I just did some last week -38' of it. I thought I was going to have to unfasten the metal, fold it up, and cut the 6" 'peel & stick' along the metal edge. But it came up fairly easy as some water had worked its way under it in various places; plus it was chilly out to. It pulled off the metal faster than it did from the rubber, so I used an alternate 'side to side' motion; first the metal, then the rubber.
