I have a new idea to run by youall. We do a fair amount of repairs. I always try to find out who's fluckup I am fixing. Yesterday I went to look at a leak. 15 year old house. The HO had this same leak 1 1/2 years ago and a company (W. Bro____s Roofing) came out and told them they needed a whole new roof. 49 sq. 10/12 2-story cut up house. One day job! The was back within a year. The chimney has one corner right in the valley and they obviously didn't change a thing. The SOB's probably threw in some IW and tins and call it good. Not only did this leak show up but they also have 3 new bonus leaks. I quoted at least $1200 to fix the leaks possibly more depending on what we run into. So later in the morning I am looking at a roof 2 towns over. The HO says- we are waiting for your quote. We have 2 already and you are the last one. Oh - says I- who else have you gotten quotes from if I might ask? Well- says HO- one is from W. Bro____s and the other is from B___ Roofing. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm says I, what a strange coincidence I was just looking at one of their jobs. The lady there would love to talk to you. Needs some major repair work done. And...... we also did a repair on a B____ job last fall. Both of these companies guaranteed their work but neither one would come back and repair it. So to make a long story a bit longer, my idea is to start a reference sheet to give to prospective customers giving my customers the referals that the other companies won't supply. Seems fair to me. What do you think?>>>

I like the idea. A list of your customers who had bad work done prior to you (and you fixed) doesn't have to mention anywhere who the other guys were. All it takes is for the prospect to call your customer and they will find out very quickly who the other party was. This way, Ole Willie's concern doesn't come up to the surface as there is no way the other party(ies) can tie in their (bad) reputation to your participation.>>>

Great Idea! Sounds like an Angie's List type thing from a diferrent source. A Gerry's List. Go for it! We need one a these.

I've had it w/ victims who won't open up and name the culprit, myself. I'm about to get rude and tell 'em if they won't tell me what I "need" to know, then kiss off>>>
