 A regular here that never posts came by the job today and wanted to try out my Black I'D, so I let him. Instruction takes about 3 minutes and he was good to go though he's never seen one before. I let him point up a 12/12 hip.

Looks like he enjoyed it. The cushion is to soften the heat off the roof. 92 degrees and those slate were hot.

OLE Willie

I did a little 3 sq. low slope roof monday and I carried up the 3 rolls of rubber a story and a half. One at a time of course they weigh 100 lbs.

After doing that job, I sold a 12 sq. low slope on tuesday. When I went to order the materials, I paid the extra 45 bucks for a roof top delivery. lol B)

But my final answer to how much do I carry up is "however much I need". As in, at the point I see exactly how many shingles that I will need that's what I go get and carry up.

I do not want to carry up a single shingle just to throw it back down. ;)

You know, the guy laughed at me and called me wimpy. Instead of a bundle, or a lot of slate, I only carry 4-5 at a time, or even less. How much of a load to you guys carry? It was only 25-26' up.

OLE Willie Said: You friggin NUT!

Do ya ever work on anything NON-Steep? :side:

This is about as flat as it gets for me at times. I do get a real flat 7-8/12 once in a while. B)

He got some pix of me. Since I had to do the hips, I just slid down to make the slate repairs. Cushions are slippery on slate, but without them, I'd get 2nd. degree burns.

And a pic I mentioned to him about me in harness beyond the gutter. It seems I don't have a pic showing both feet in ascenders when I installed the bottom of the valley. The I'd waas the only thing keeping me up there as I was completely suspended by rope.

I almost never see one with sleepers OS. Just butt them and caulk them. At least it's a steady income and usually an extra to add in when going on any repair job. :)

Old School

Hey Tinner. Like you said, it looks like he was having fun. I take it they didn't install a metal flashing beneath the ridges as they put them on.
