What is your primary QC tool? A tape mneasure, a AJC hatchet, A gun nailer, a chalk line, the instuctions on the materials, (have we EVER read them)
How do you measure your results?
Doggie style? Ouch. It does all start from the top though. I try and lead by example, and if it is only me, then it is pretty easy to do.
The Roofing God Said:they're gonna do what they know and it may have consequences until you inform them of "proper style". :blush:tico Said: to many guys know how to lay A roof.be it what ever type. the difference is in the boss, owner foreman super.do they manage the build and watch whos screwin the pooch. I can have A good crew and theyll hump your dog til you grab its back legs and give us your version. quality is education modification. make me what you want.convert my ability to your beliefs.should that be to hard for me send me up the road. proactive.Pretty much what I`m saying, not sure about the humping the dog references-lol

Makes sense to me!
consider ,their rope is played out on roof areas with lines snapped every 4 courses, and I do have them watch me install, and explain why I do things certain ways, including how I set the shingles, before they`re allowed to roof, and only when they do well,do they get near a nailgun--usually it`s a few shingles here and there, usually it`s enough trauma that they don`t want it to happen again, and they pay more attention to their work, that or they wait a while for their next opportunity to shingle, plenty of other stuff to do on a roof, besides the actual shingle installation
If you have only had to remove a "bundle" you aren't giving them much "rope"
I would say ME since it is my responsibilty being the boss and all - Otherwise my hammer gets the most use - If it doesnt work/Look right hit it with a hammer:woohoo: I am the type of guy if it aint broke dont fix it -- so i have to break it before i can fix it:woohoo:
as far as results -- Happy homeowners - Getting Paid - Refferrals - Happy crew - No complaints / callbacks
That`s what I preach OS,I haven`t removed more than a bundle in decades, and that`s with new guys trying out,You do have to give them a little rope-lol
Mike, I took a ISO standards class about 3 years ago, and I was wondering how to incorporate that into the "installation" segment of the roofing industry. All of the information in the world won't help a roof if it is installed wrong, but at least you would have a way of estabishing what went wrong with some of those details to start with.
RG. That works for sure, but it is kind of a large waste. Much easier to do it right the first time.
A tear off spade,If it`s no good,It gets torn off ,and thrown away
