But PC, Dubya gave us No Child Left Behind and more mountains of Red Tape along with the massive debt. A republicant to the core
Alba he left us in the BLACK. People forget that. He had other issues but he got us as a country out of debt. Thank you George Bush for putting us in reverse. PC
Bill Clinton tried to pay down the debt.
I don't have a problem with more taxes, my problem is who is spending the taxes and what on. The government is no Robin Hood. PC
Being in debt is not such a bad idea...,.as a country, we have been operating this way for over the last 150 years. WWII era was higher then today when it comes to the deficit (take WWII $$$ and account for inflation, they borrowed more then).
It doesn't matter whether you have a re-pube or a dem-god in the house. If they make any head way in paying down the debt, they will find a way to continue borrowing to pay for their programs. And its the money pumped into these programs that keep the country rolling.....otherwise...
Don't borow.....have to raise taxes, rich have less to spend, less business creation/spending, drastic unemployment, raise more taxes to cover loss of income taxes...and so on...and so on.
So we continue to borrow until the country is sound, then continue to borrow while sloooowwwwly raising taxes to make the economy stronger.
Tell the Federal Reserve to lend us/print us no more money. Let all the pigs really root for the food. I'll survive before they will, I already know how to live on O. PC
Bill Clinton tried to pay down the debt. But he was accussed of weakening the country.
$900 trillion in CDO bets out there. The entire planet only has $65 trillion. Who is going to cover this bet?
LOL---- When Wall St loses (wins) that bet, the whole world could pay them off on about 7cents on the dollar (yen). Wonder what they would do with $65 trillion? CREATE JOBS?????? Yeah right.
They don't "Create" anything but problems. DUH! B)
You guys. Don't you read any history? It makes absolutely no difference who or what is in power, the debt is going to continue to rise at a accelerating rate. It has to, because the debt is lent into circulation and the only way to pay the interest is to lend more into circulation. It is just a treadmill and we are on it. The fed has robbed us, our children, our grand children and our great-grand children. They also got all of the wealth of all of the other nations in the world too. not too bad for only 100 years. They own title to everything on the planet, including the people.
The politics is just smoke and mirrors
Jim, most folks were shocked by the debt that Dubya created. Why do you think true fiscal conservatives ( not Repuiblicans) did not like him? In fact the two (3? 4? 5?) unfunded wars (that Obama continues) is what has drove the debt the most.
Obama just piled on (upped the ante)
When it was decided to make many people rich (richer) with the war program, the least we coulda done was tax the wealth (dec 2010) that our soldiers deaths and higher oil prices ($4 gal) created for them.
Instead our last 2 Dem/ Rep (same party) presidents (Bush/ Obama) chose debt and weakness. Us citizens chose foolishness.
Can't wait for 2012.....and change :S
twill59 Said:Why only AFTER Obama was elected have Republicans decided they must change their big spending ways? 30 yrs. too late if you ask me.
Perhaps you haven't noticed that Obama created more debt than all of the other presidents combined? He's increased debt in such a shocking way that it's now become apparent to everyone (including the far left) that we cannot continue on this shocking path.
Don't you have any concern at all that we will be bankrupt if we don't radically alter our spending?
My son went through a Christian school pre-k through 5th grade. When we moved to a small town and he went to public school, he came home after the first day and said "These kids are really dumb." :cheer:
He got a free pass from bullying pretty much. The town was only 1300 people, and after I knocked out the local football star while sparring at my karate school, it pretty much ended any of the usual "my dad can whip your dad" arguments with my son.
Oh c'mon Mike, name a President who has not thrown money @ "education" to prove how "smart" they are and concerned about education they are? It's the nations biggest sinkhole after "defense" (offense)
Why only AFTER Obama was elected have Republicans decided they must change their big spending ways? 30 yrs. too late if you ask me. If they actually do something this time I will be impressed. Unfortunately all they are doing now is putting on a show. The rubber will meet the road after they are elected in 2012.
So by 2013 or so we will how much they stay the same and up the ante (debt), or become something different
wywoody,
I'll bet things have changed a lot, even if it's not been that long since your kids were in school.
I'm in my mid 40's, and I had a great HS experience. My dad was a school board member for years (after I graduated), and yet, by the 3rd grade, I took my oldest son out of public school until HS, the next two went to a Baptist school. Middle child left for public school in 7th grade and graduates this year. He is begging us to do everything we can to keep his little sister from going there.
My sister is a school teacher in a very conservative southern district, and even she is just shocked at what's happening.
It's deteriorating very rapidly.
Our public schools get about 9K per student. The superior private school my kids attended is at $2640/yr............ and OneBigAssMistakeAmerica wants to throw more money into the system.
Frank, I'm still laughing. All the jokes about Catholic girls. ARE TRUE. PC
