As much as I don't want to think that the American way of life might go away someday, some well-established patterns seem to be repeating themselves. The theory below is interesting, if not downright scary:
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith; 2. From spiritual faith to great courage; 3. From courage to liberty; 4. From liberty to abundance; 5. From abundance to selfishness; 6. From selfishness to complacency; 7. From complacency to apathy; 8. From apathy to dependence; 9. From dependence back into bondage.

---That quotation is similiar to the Biblical cycle of human behavior detailed in the book of Judges.
---In the book of Judges Israel was blessed and prospered. Prosperity led to materialism and forsaking God. Forsaking God led to judgment by God amounting to oppression from foreign invaders. Oppression led to prayer, repentance, and renewal with God. Renewal led to forgiveness and God's blessing. Blessing led to neglect, carelessness, and the cycle would repeat. This cycle is repeated 6 times in the book of Judges. ---cf Judges 2:16-19.

I have to say apathy is a problem with whites and blacks in general. Competitiveness and envy every where. I have been in Southern California( Caliexico )the last week or so. The people who have the look of liberty are the browns. Their eyes sparkle when you engage. Their spirit says courage as it stirs and mixes with yours. I have a very different view of the browns after spending a few short days here. For Gods sake even hamburger flippers are bi lingual. It is refreshing. To see a people assimilate into our culture with the spirit that founded this country. God Bless America B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
