Does anyone know what the insurance companies are paying per square for re-roofing a house in lower Alabama. I am a residential contractor and I give several estimates per month but usually just waste my time and money giving these out. My crew and I do a really good job and hardly ever have to go back for any leaks or such, I try to give the lowest bid that I can work with and still have payroll and something left. Anyone know about this?

TomB Said: I know these discussions go on & on....The bottom line and fact-o-the-matter is; Only the contractor knows his costs....WTH?

It has now become: Here are your dollars's, make them work. And ya know how that goes.........Some fellas make them work awful darned good.

Guys I have been away from roofing for 4 years now. I just heard what shingles were going for these days, pricing has to be difficult. PC

CIAK that is the way I did it 12 yrs. ago during a hailstorm. I never even knew what Exactimate or even Ins. Co. pricing was!!!!!

A few yrs. ago it all seemed to change and ONLY Ins. Co. pricing mattered. But I agree w/ ya CIAK, not arguing just telling you my experience here.

And oh YES!! listening to Liberal radio today (FM) the nutjobs are definitely getting piled onto Sarah Palin, Inc.

It depends on the pitch , how many stories. The insurance price in Alabama varies from $150 to $250 per square.

The insurance company will have to deal with the H/O having signed a legal contract with fair pricing to mitigate and repair damages. If it is a fair price and not a gouge, roofguy can ethically and morally defend his contract.

Did you know that the shooter in Arz had buckets of roof cement piled up on his front porch. Were they roofers or jacks?? Roofers ONG are we being smeared and or associated with nut jobs????? B) ;) ;) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day

That's good advice CIAK. Does roofinguy sign them with hs own price and specs, and then the client goes to the insurance company requesting his dollars for the job?

Their have been many discussions on this topic. My advice is sign the H/O (homeowner)take them off the market. Deal with the insurance company from there. If you want to know what the insurance company's are paying take an Xactimate course. If you are asking your competitors what to charge............? Price in Xactimate programing is based on zip codes.
