Michael R. Rivera

Hi, I'm planning to start a new coffee shop in Toronto. I would like to know the suggestions from the experts. It was my desire to start a coffee shop. Planning to place some LED boards in front of the shop and planning to list the items and the home delivery service details as well. Does anyone know about the registration procedures of the new business? Kindly help me with your suggestions. Also, looking to start the advertising works too. Planning to start it online and offline. Can I get some suggestions for the promotion works of the shop? One of my friends in Toronto suggested me to use the direct mail advertising and he told that more customers can be gained through this method. Any comments on this? If anything more to add, let me know. Hope to start it as early as possible. Waiting for your reply. Thanks in advance

It depends on where you go. $2.00 a cup to $7.00 or $7.00 at the starbucks.

lol you can't compete with Starbucks which is to the coffee industry what IPhone is to the cell phone industry.

It is cold in Toronto in the winter, so starting a roofing coffee shop there would be tough right now. Alba would suggest that you roof it with SPF though to make sure that you are not wasting energy dollars. I know that the Canadian Dollars are not worth as much, but you still have to pay them out. I suppose that your best method of advertising would be the word of "taste" Good luck on that one.

Although I built and operated a Starbucks knock-off coffee shop not long ago, this is a roofing forum not a coffee forum.

That said, I can give you 2 pieces of advice:

1. I learned that opening a high-end coffee shop in a small farm community is a bad business model - they won't pay $2. 2. The 3 times I was in Toronto for surgeries in the late 90's, you couldn't find Dr Pepper anywhere! Start there, no city can call itself civilized without Dr Pepper.
