My wife comes home the other day and says, "these bicyclists have become completly out of control"....She had two encounters in a two mile stretch, prior to arriving home....This is somewhat of an old issues amongst our family, as we typically live in rural areas accessed by small rural highways/roads with no shoulders at all, so the "bicyclists", just ride on down the middle of the highways, two-abreast w/o a care in the world....And, of course, the majority of these people are of the type 'B' persuasion, "city-dwellers", just going about their bullying way of life....It just don't go well with us country bumkins...we have & expect manners by golly!
Woody I'm not riding plastic....85 Cadillac..V8 401...doesn't know how to go slow. If I hit something it will know it. I won't be scratched they might.
My truck won't be touched either. PC
Todays plastic-covered bumpers are misnamed. You get in a wreck with them and they're scratched, ripped, scrunched, half-off, all-off on the side of the road, not bumpers like those chrome battering bars of old. There is one exception, a country road behind bikers riding two abreast. Now it's time that todays' bumpers can be bumpers.
Tis a shame, isn't it?....Maybe if they left the "grind"&/or 'type 'B' attitudes/personalities in the city.... ;) :)
The desire to escape the rat race, till the land, raise your own chickens, listen to the whippoorwills and of course ride bicycles down rural highways, To escape the grind of city life has launched countless daydreams in peoples adventurous spirit. Mother nature and or other humans are not always so welcoming to such mere mortals. B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
Tom you are right. With that said. I live in Carlisle PA , just set up a new traffic pattern with a bike lane. I've never known so many pissed off people in one place. We are now down to a one lane system. Last weekend we had the Car Show Plymouth/Dodge we bring in a lot of folks. I saw so many muscle cars, you don't even have to go to show. But the traffic was insane. The cyclists have their lane. PC I'm laughing
Here it is the idiot joggers. No matter how many good sidewalks, running tracks (indoors or out) or open fields we have, they head straight to the roads to jog w/ traffic.
The bicyclists out here in the country stick to the secondary roads. Once in a while I might see someone on the hwy, but rarely.
I just tell tham that if they don't like the way I drive, get the heck off from the sidewalks.
I believe it's far more dangerous to ride a rural highway than it is to manuver city streets/traffic....Just my own, slanted opnion(s)....In the city bicycles are a much more viable mode of transportation, at least more so than in rural ares whereas the onslaught of the weekend bicyclists are strictly recreation.
What makes it more frustrating, is that we have paid for beautiful bike paths all over the place, some directly adjacent to the roadway, however the bicyclists must get a kick out of the danger of intermingling with 3000lb. hunks of metal hurling past, within a few feet of them, at 50+/- mph. How about these knuckleheads who drag their babies along behind in a kart! That's really watching out for your child's welfare!
What happened to traffic laws concerning bkes, and just plain ole ethics/common sense? Maybe it's because we live within a vacation/2nd home area, ("Disneyland" setting), that when atop a bicycle, all laws are forgotten? It seems anythinbg goes; They ride down paths whizzing within inches of grandma out for a walk, then dart on across a street or crosswalk, obblivious to traffic, expecting all to yield, be it pedestrian on walkways or autos on the streets!
When one anylizes it; It IS out of control....
I just encountered this today. I live rural also. They are city dwellers but love riding in my neighborhood. Granted it is nice and safer than the city but they are a pain. My road is a favorite, sometimes we are a bike route, meaning more than 2 meaning many up to 40/50 Lordy be.
Kage I have never done that.
Though I blew my horn last week at a friend because I was pissed because he was kick , made my day. I'M NOW BAND FROM THE CAMPGROUND. HAHA pc
Ride there azz with your hand pressed gently on horn....till they move..works everytime.. B)
