I had this video made for my little Lubbock roofing company in 1987. It was very high tech at the time - we spent a lot of time in a production room. A local TV station filmed the video.

That video sold a LOT of roofs....nobody else around here had company videos at that time.

We had a similar VHS video, circa mid-90's.....Would hand-out to customers as well....Had a 2hr "looped" one, we would use at home shows, etc....

I saw the video and now I know where all of that West Texas dust comes from...

Ouch! That makes two of us that were dumb when we were younger. That is probably why I have two artificial knees now. We were tough though!

OS, I just handed out VHS tapes to potential customers. My usual routine was to hand them a tape to watch while I looked at their roof and wrote up their quote.

The 12.5" x 300' rolls were cut into smaller widths for flashings and AC units.

Those rolls were Trevira 1215 spun-bonded polyester, bought as "remnants" from Heorsch Fibers (sp?) in Spartanburg, SC. We had to buy a full truckload but we were paying $2/SQR when everyone else was paying $10/SQR for DuPont Remay & Sontara, or Phillips Rufon.

When we were in a bind and needed a roll or 3, we could find a paving company and buy some as it was designed as underlayment for paving highways. Plus, it was about 25 times stronger than roofing polyester. Never gonna get a split in that stuff. In fact, in my salesbook I had a picture of me pulling our forlift with my pickup using a 12" strip of the Trevira as a towstrap. :-) It was a good visual.

Once in awhile we'd get 15' wide rolls that were longer and weighed around 300 lbs. I was the only idiot who could throw it over my shoulder, balance it, and go up the ladder with it and put it on the roof. I really though I was proving how tough I was at the time, now I realize it was just dumb.

Did you run that as a TV ad then? Without the internet how would people see it? Good stuff though. One question I came up with was how in the world did you get the large rolls of mesh to go around and under all of those penetrations?
