I'm convinced that chopped glass and emulsion is the best system for recover. However, I'm thinking about 10 years ahead now when my son will be taking over the roofing company and I'll be slowing down. I want him to be able to offer a new construction system and I'm thinking about TPO.
I was talking to an old/large Texas roofing company in Dallas a few weeks ago and he said TPO's have improved a lot in the 10 years since we tried one and had it fail. He said the secret is to not go with the thin 45 mil TPO's.
Anyway, since it appears that a company can get equipped to do TPO for around just $10,000, seems like that may be the way we want to go.
So, tell me what brands of TPO you think are best, or tell me why you think TPO is junk.
It's cheap...cheap start-up costs....extremely easy to train monkeys to install....seems to work if installed properly....There's probably only a scource or two that actually manufacture it and private-label for most of the "manufactures"....
Nothing really beats properly manufactured & installed mod bit BUR. However, finding trainable labor is just abut impossible these days.....it's way easier to give them a 4 hr class, a pair of scissors, roller & away they go!
How good is a roof when the co. That installed it wont even warranty it for more than 2 years! Need I say more? Stick to the glass shield system. We are in the process of creating a new emulsion that will adhere and move with all single ply membranes also be great for new construction.
OK: It's low priced
Ok, don't.
