Socialism castrates the male need to provide and succeed. It cuts straight to the heart of our desire to be a provider. It has castrated every nation that tried it. It has castrated our inner cities. It's growth is castrating our entire nation. China did not take off until the regime opened up the economy.

Socialism has never succeeded in building a great nation. It never will. Rome took about 500 years to fall, but Obama, and the communist/socialist class that he was raised under, educated by and whom he has embraced as an adult, are doing their level best to undo the most successful government and social structure in recorded history. He seems to be a likeable chap. As is an old and dear liberal high school friend in Seattle, but I have no use for his politics and the end of his Presidential term can't come soon enough to suit me. I wish we could just skip 2011 and get straight to the election.

1) You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2) What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3) The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4) When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

5) You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

On topic with Lannys post let me polarize one key point. The "poor" are the liberal base, so appeasing them, thus ensuring their vote is vital. Obama is the worst of the worst as politicians go and he continues to show it as every day passes. Undoing the damage he has done and continues to do once we get him out in 2012 may well prove impossible. A real lying scumbag.

---I don't blame Obama for the oil spill or lack of clean up. And any attempt to punish the oil company will only raise gas prices. ---I blame Obama for spending money we don't have and now raising taxes to pay for it. The higher taxes get the worse the economy will be. ---Remember the gov't cannot give money to one person or group that it didn't take from another group or person. How many people do poor people hire? You cannot raise the poor by tearing down the rich. ---There will always be people more talented, smarter, luckier, & better looking than other people. There will always be the rich and the poor. Most of that is because of genetics. Some of it is because of luck. ---There is no substitute for hard work and sacrifice. Sadly many want "something for nothing." They want their paycheck on Monday and the rest of the week off. You will always have as many welfare cases as there is money to support them. If the money was there I suppose 90% of the population would let the gov't pay their bills. ---People live by what I call the "pain meter." That is they try and maximize pleasure and minimize pain. That does not lead to sacrificing today for a better tomorrow. Instead most are connoisseurs of the fast buck. "Get all you can and can all you get." Look out for number one and don't forget your number. If it feels good, do it. ---Socialism is contrary to human nature. Men are selfish. Greed leads to all manner of hard work that sometimes produces great results. However, if there were no reward for hard work and suffering few would engage it. Soviet Russia was a prime example. There was no motivation for production and thus there were decades of shortages and an alcoholism rate of over 50% among the men. Capitalism is almost always a smashing scandelous success. And because men are selfish capitalism must be governed by laws that create a level playing field. I give you goods and services and you give me ...in return. That is a contract and there must be contract law to enforce it. Countries that are corrupt with bribery and a corrupt judicial system will never have prosperity because without contract law business is stifled. ---The Bible forbids bribery and calls for an "honest weight and an honest measure." Such are keys to prosperity because they create an environment where production will thrive. Economics are really quite simple. Since every man intuitively knows how he wants to be treated he merely treats others likewise. It is called the golden rule. And when applied to economics it produces real gold. ---Sadly the gov't is following bankrupt economic teachers who think our problems are lack of liquidity. That is borrowing money is restricted. I think that BORROWING money IS THE PROBLEM! That is, debt is dragging us down. I notice that people not in debt are surviving the downturn much better than those in debt over their ears. Our goal should be to save not borrow. The entire real estate meltdown is simply because of over borrowing. Check out economic advice from Dave Ramsey. His statistics on debt are noteworthy. ---Thus Obama is making the problem worse not better. Every taxpaying American owes over $100,000 in federal debt. Federal debt will ruin our economy and ruin our money system. And Bush is to blame as well. But Obama in a few months spent more than Bush did in 8 years. How this house of cards remains standing is a mystery to me. The social security scam is far worse than Bernie Madoff. Collecting a SS surplus for decades that has all been spent leaving IOU's in the SS trust fund. What a scam! What a ponzi scheme! Congress owes Madoff an apology. ---I am looking for a clean sweep in November. On November 2nd it is time to take out the trash. If you want change than don't elect the same people. Over 90% are re-elected year after year. And we wonder why nothing changes...If you like the status quo by all means vote the same. If not, vote them out. Lanny

Jed you are becoming the new CIAK. This oil spill is your neighborhood. A Travesty to say the least. It's like saying all my farmers have an algae that won't allow them to grow for 10 years. Awfull. My heart breaks for the poples that are and will suffer from this DISASTER. This is not the Presidents fault, lay it where it belongs. Our oil company, trusting their word, they knew what they were doing.NOT. Now everyone wants to lay blam0 on someone WHY ABHAMA!!! All he did was take a constitutional like YOU that day. Everybody needs to grow up AND REALIZE that we can't continue to blame others. PC

I'm signing off for now, I'm PO'd This is good. I'm not done.

Robby the Roofer Said: I agree that he is more real now...that anyone in office. I think his achilles heal will be that he waits too long to make a decision, which gives the american people the idea that he cant make those decisions.

To change this reflection upon him change he will have to act immediately on our next crisis.

Again....I like OBAMA...and I liked BUSH...but I also liked PEROT too.

lanny Said: ---If Palin can make 25 mil for speaking engagements, more power to her. I dont mind if someone besides me the taxpayer is paying her. I heard that Bill Clinton makes 500k per speaking engagement. Fine as long as it isnt taxpayer money. If that is the going rate and someone is willing to pay it, fine by me. ---I am tired of govt people ripping off the taxpayers. Go get a real job, I say. 19% of govt workers make over 100k per year. Do 19% of private sector workers make over 100k/yr??? Do 1 in 5 roofers make that? Do I have to pay enough taxes for govt workewrs to make that??? Lanny

I read the other day: Avg. public sector pay: $119K vs. $59K private Like most things published, it lacked details so I don't know if bennies were included.

Also noted: new Chancellor, Dean, President or whatever at the university of Illinois will be making over $600k per yr.

We keep being hopefull that someone, SOMEONE, someone will be saviour of some sort. Where any of you find comfort putting such responsibilities on ONE person is ludicrous. All of you need to get a little real. WE are real, we live and breathe it. These people that we think will bring us redemption and comfort to appease us all is NUTS, get a GRIP. Being from PA a state of contention, a former voter of Arlen Spector, a man that did much for US I voted against him this year. Do you care to know why? His age, his health, he set a mark for a wonderful senator it is now time for someone to follow his lead. As for OBAMA , history will prove to all of you that this is probably one of the most REAL people that we have had in office. It wasn't easy fro Jesus either. PC

Wether you have dem's or rep's big gov't, and there pay, are always going to be the same. All the representives and congress persons the country votes in will eventually fall into the gov't good ole boy system.....That is ....you scratch mine and I will scratch yours, and the people who voted them in are left to pick up the sraps/
