Everything is set, I'm ready to go and bam! it's raining. Just sitting out the rain delay. Easy roof 18 square of 3 tabs off and putting on 50 year dimensionals. new skylight also. I have to pull plywood to access a vaulted ceiling to run a wire for a new light over a kitchen island I built. Radar shows nothing but it's raining hard. Go figure

I re-did my roof a couple years ago and went with some Timberline Ultra in Sierra Sunset. I like trying new things when doing my work.. It was a high-end shingle but a different looking color. Turned out more orange looking then red... Never really liked the color after the install. So this year I pulled the vinyl siding off and put some LP Smart side with LP Shakes. House was always really drafty find out no house wrap but with new wrap and siding it really made a difference.

I like the point about the motivator CIAK. Usually it's money first, then a job well done as satisfaction. I'll be adding an addition to my mobile home this fall or next year so I'll be roofing my own place too. Not sure what kind of roofing I'm going to do but 'nice looking' isn't my top priority. Having a home that isn't a hall way is my motivator.

Copper, I'll get to experience that with my boys when my project starts. I'm not looking forward to physically working the process. The satisfaction of a nice looking roof done correctly is the reward and knowing I will not have to roof on this house again is a huge motivator.R/R 36 squares of steep slope shingle to metal and 8 squares of low slope 3 ply hot and Mod Bit. is a large project for a H/O. Weather and being called out of state for 10+days at a time is a huge factor for me. B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day

Yeah I don't have a dump trailer anymore. I only kept my metal working tools when I moved. My boss gave me the shingles as a bonus. I worked yesterday afternoon and finished tearing off and drying in. Started nailing shingles. Got half back on after carrying up 40 bundles. I thought I was going to kill my son in law. He's not used to that kind of work and was done after 4 bundles. My son did a little better.

Copper, way too much fun! We ue a dump teailer for that kind of stuff, and we make sure and tear it off and dry it in and then have the shingles delivered on the roof where we need them. I strike lines too, and I make sure they are all struck before setting the bundles in the way.

Larry I'm about to enter the crazy world soon of H/O applied roofing. Where most H/O's in my estimation make the huge mistake in doing there own roofs "keep it cheap." Keep it cheap hog ties everyone involved and the attitude. We have all seen the results of that. With our great expanse of roofing knowledge you and I will be more than alright. Well the devil hates a coward. I went up after 1:00 and started ripping. it never rained so I got off about 6 square and dried in. It is a valley section. not bad for an old man by himself. finished up around 5:00. tomorrow I'll rip the rest of the back and start roofing. Forgot to call for the dumpster so I'm just piling it up on the front roof till Monday.

It finally rained here the last few days. Nothing to speak of for 2 months and all of the crops died in the fields, then, bam 3 inches in one day!
