LMAO.........They can pawn anything off. Have any of you used a hail proof shingle........what's the catch? I have seen hail rip apart even metal roofs.......how does a hail proof shingle work? What makes it better than a Lifetime (haaha) Shingle?
The asphalt type IV hail resistant shingle by CT has a special scrim. I don't know if it replaces the Fglass mat or is added into it.
Folks here like the hail damage (?) and the free roofs. Someone else is paying for it, right? Trying to get them to invest to save 17-34% on homeowners insurance is akin to asking them to walk to the grocery store for a gallon of milk instead of a driving a $45k p/up truck.
Since true hail damage is not an issue here no one has ever mentioned the hail resistant shingle as something they'd be interested in.
CIAK
That was a pretty kool web-site. Never seen anything like it.
Are you talking about the steel shingles? I've not installed any of those. GAF had(has?) an asphalt shingle that they coat asphalt and rocks on both sides of the shingle to make it "hail proof." The funny part is that it's main advantage is that it won't LEAK after a hail storm so insurance only has to replace the roof and not interior damage.
CIAK....I think this is what the new Menards ad is advertising as "Hail proof"

I have not installed them. Know only what I have seen in ads like this. http://www.gerardusa.com/images/hail-flier.pdf B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
