Just got a call from one of the salesmen where I buy from advising me that shingle prices will going up by about $15 a square. It may be spread out over 2 increases but it is coming soon. One supplier I buy from has raised them at least $5 starting today.
I always figure in a price increase on every quote that I do and I tell customers that I have allowed an additional amount that I will credit them if there is no increase before I start their job. This way there is no surprises.
I just wanted to spread the word that it may be a good idea to call your suppliers and find out what their plans are for price increases.
Good for you, when are you taking me out for lunch? I'm right off I81. PC
Ya Patty, lesion learnt. I now have a disclaimer.
The same thing happened back in 2004/2005. Especially our commercial jobs it was necessary to add a disclaimer on the bid. If awarded the job we had the right to revise pricing on the shingles. It took months for a bid to come through, by then the price had gone up bunches. It was tough. PC
Yup, here in the great white north, last year we had Three increases. One was 7%, 5%, then 3%. When i've already have given out estimates, and they've signed I sort of got f*cked on that one. I think i had like 7 or 8 @ the old price, and i had to eat the lost.
