Damn OS so sorry to hear you're in so much pain. thanks for sharing though. it's important for us youths to learn from our elders. everyone always tells me we all fall apart from hard work but one of my grandfathers was all good when he passed in his 90s and i have another grandfather who is still working hard as heck every day and he's 86. don't know exactly how or why it happens to some and not others but i know i'm going to take heed to everyones advise and hope for the best. get well soon john! i'll be in the states in a couple weeks, you gotta at least be well enough for another cup of coffee!

Thanks Copper. My wife got on line last night and the things they describe are right on with what I am feeling. According to the "Normal" person, I am about halfway to the time when I should feel about normal. Don't believe those who tell you you will feel great after a few weeks.

It is a MAJOR opperation for sure, and the recovery time is substantial. I worked out for 9 months before to get my self and legs in shape for it too. What a drag.

Something don't sound right. When was the last time you saw the doctor? Could have an infection deep inside.

Max, don't believe them when they tell you it will be better right away. It is a process for sure.

Good luck with your knee OS. About 25 years ago, not wearing a seat belt, my right knee had an impact with a dashboard. Crushed the upper half of my knee cap. Doc was able to pin it back together using the good lower half. He told my wife, her fault, I could forget about climbing on roofs anymore. Wife told him I would be back up there as soon as I could, so he put me in a full leg cast for 6 weeks I think. seemed like forever. At 61 that knee feels better than the other nonsurgical one lol. I am dealing with a lot of back pain. I have hearniated discs at L5&4 with bone spurs. Steroid shots worked 10 years ago but are not now. I sur dont want back surgery. I am looking into a noninvasive laser procedure that is outpatient. One hour after the procedure I can walk on my own and go home. I just have to take it easy for up to 6 weeks. Gonna cost some $$$$$$ but will be worth it. I cant go on like this. Anyone had this or considered?

I can replace my left knee in 15 minutes and there is no pain at all. Of course, it is hydraulic.

I feel for you OS; I sense in your words that you have discovered a new level of pain. One of the most disappointing discoveries I ever made, was learning that what I once thought was level 10 pain, is only level 3, and there are lots more above that.

Go on and get the second one done and you won't notice the first one so much. :P

It DOES get better. Wife has forgotten the first one, and still having some pain on the second one. It was done in May.

So far so "Bad" It hurts like crazy and it is tightening up too. I have a PT scheduled for tomorrow and will talk to them a lot. I have a heck of time sleeping at night as when I lay down, the leg cramps up and it "Yanks" me awake if I an lucky enough to be asleep.

Three weeks thia last Tuesday and I went in for my 3 week checkup on Wednesday. The surgeon said that it was looking very good and I could let my "pain" be my guide from now on.

Let me tell you about pain now. These laet few nights especially have been pure hell! I hate to take the Narcotics, but I have to to be able to lay down and sleep. wow! If I don't "stay down" it won't get better, but If and when I get up, it swells right up and really starts to hurt. I suppose in a few more weeks when the muscles relax and start to go down it will be better, but I am not a patient man. Everyone I talk to tells me it takes a while and I will love it in short order. While you are going through it however, it is a different story. Hopefully, relief is just a short time away as long as I don't abuse it. I indend to let it heal, so I will continue to give updates as time passes.

The "Knee" works well!

Poor Honey, I hope the pain subsides soon. I will be praying for your knee. We would be at a loss without you getting back on a roof.
